yeah, i used to like 2pac when i first started listening to rap, but now im all about biggie and the non sequiter cleverness. funny dude. but 'hit em up' is probably better than any biggie song
Like biggie's nasal slant rhyme and flow. But no matter his ability to flow, his rap was all about his gangsta fantasy.... tupac shot a cop in the ass and didn't get charged with shit.... THAT'S a gangster.
Pac had a bigger influence on the game than biggie did. His lyrics did go deeper and his over message was more than murder, it was about helping future generations, giving back to the children, bringing corruption to an end, truly seeing everything how it is, not seeing how it might be. I'm not doubting biggie or talking shit, he put out some great work. Its just pac was a step ahead of biggie. The influence pac brought and still holds even after 15 years after his death is amazing. Biggie doesn't hold that. Gotta give respect to both artists though.
As a lyricist and an mc, BIG was dope no doubt, one of the best. The way he played with words and lyrical structure during that era, was amazing, pure listening pleasure. As a soryteller, espeically in alot of his early stuff, Pac was a master of his craft. One of the first Hiphop artists years after Public Enemy, KRS and Africa Bam, that drew me in with the meaningful commentary that his stories told. Apart from mainly these aspects, there was nothing unique, special or god-status about them. Fame and notoriety wise, they were both in the right place at the right time. Both slightly overated in my opinion.
