well thanks to all that helped me but i finally found out what the song was, I went onto classic kfmc's twitter page and kept scrolling down until i found the song it was do you feel like we by peter frampton

 

That is how you describe that song??? I bet your the worst at charades.

He uses a talk box with his guitar. Which when he talks into a tube makes his guitar sound like its talking. This song made the talk box famous

ok thank you for explaining that, that is what I was hearing when I heard it on the radio and was trying to figure out how he was doing that with a guitar

 

Interesting side note: Peter Frampton was the origonal choice for lead singer by a little band called Led Zeppelin. He turned down the offer, because he didn't want to compete with Jimmy Page on guitar. Then Zeppelin heard a blond haired blues singer named Robert Plant.....and history was born.


Edit: When they asked Frampton, they were known as the New Yardbirds.

I have never made it past 28 seconds on any song on that Floyd album.

 

I didn't say that it was the first, but it is the most iconic talk box song. The part in Rocky Mountain Way that has the talk box can easily be mistaken as other effects. I've seen several bands recreate that sound pretty well using a wah in combination with certain distortion effects. Where as in Feel Like I Do you can clearly hear the actual words from the guitar. Which can't be done using standard effects.

Devices similar to the talk box have been around since the 1930's.
