I've put this in the Whiner's sub-forum because I don't really think this particular subject pertains only to women (such as the Women's Issues forum).
At any rate, I'm expecting out of state company that I've not seen in 35 yrs. (at least). Counting actual years gets to be a pain in the ass after a certain number of years. I have GOT to clean up this wreck, I mean house NOW.

Due to the mastery I have achieved over procrastination, I am now posting instead of cleaning. (LOL) ALSO - we now have NO inside/outside cats or dogs - ALL inside, except for the FEW moments the dog goes outside to do his business. My point is: we have about a gazillion fleas in the house...in the living room alone (partially pictured in my sig). We gave a "flea-catcher" in there - a big but not deep bowl with water and a few drops of detergent
which catch on the average about 100 fleas A DAY. sweet bejebus. We NEVER had anything even close to this when we had 5 and 6 cats coming in and going out all day long.

Regarding the "house-cleaning" department, I am not counting all the straightening, dusting, and etc which must be done.

I have a (new and part-time) job which has worn me out to the bone and requires at least 1 1/2 days of rest just to be able to function 1/2 of that 2nd day of not working.

So, now that I've whined enough (I think), I'll try to get something done here, since they are due July 24th. Dear God...I need help...and it is NOT going to come from my 92 yr old mom (bless her soul) nor the ALWAYS inside animals.

A word or two about the fleas... I think somebody has been breeding superfleas this year. I've never seen so many and I haven't found anything to control them yet... Good luck!

Best of luck to ya, I know cleaning for guests can be stressful

Email me with where you are in SC...I wouldn't mind helping if you're not too far.

Thanks for the tip Faelixx...I put vinegar in a container with a few holes in the top that cherry tomatoes come in, but that sounds more efficient.

I realize that might sound weird, but I firmly believe in housecleaning parties.

I go to people's houses and clean, cause I totally understand how hard it is when you live there all the time to keep it up. I don't like it when people judge you based on how clean or organized or dusty your house is either...so shallow, I think.

Thank y'all so much...even if I haven't gotten anything (hardly worth counting) done...you've all made me feel so much better. With these particular kin people, I'm very lucky in that they don't care at all...well, they don't care that I just can't keep this big old house clean behind an old woman and animals. (yes, that IS my excuse :))

Also, even my cousin in Nevada, where they are Not Supposed to even have fleas (according to her), has had a bad infestation of them this summer and had a TIME getting them GONE. If I had animals wondering in and out all the time, I could understand it; but, I don't!

Anyway, because of such excellent responses, I may actually do something tomorrow!:2thumbsup: If I started tonight, it would wake up the world, and that would NOT be good.

(And I can't use the bug bombs because the animals inside would have no where to go! lol and btw - I used bug bombs on some fleas in the basement which lived on a concrete floor and who the hell knows where else (!) and after 3 (THREE) separate bug bombings, I gave up and didn't let animals down there for 3 years. To this day, no animal wants to stay down there for more than a moment, even tho' they don't get fleas (from there, anyway).

i like the people that say "why you own a dog that sheds so much?"
I answer with "why do I have friends like you?

I've heard cedar oil works to rid animals of fleas and put it in a spray bottle and spray around your home. Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum...thats what I did and got rid of them by vacuuming like an insane person alone. Make sure not to get cedar wood oil, could harm your pets, has to be just cedar oil. Im totally down for housecleaning parties too, I moan and complain about cleaning my own house but Im quick to help someone else with theirs. Who knows why, new perspective maybe?

Problem number one.... Cedar oil isn't working on superfleas.
