You know, recently I've really not wanted to have foreign agents working inside me; I can see the beauty of a straight mind! I was speaking to someone the other day who told us about the first time his mother gave him the drugs talk. It probably went a bit like this:

Mother; "Now son, you know there are consequences to taking drugs" the word consequences drawing on subconscious anxiety strings for the poor kid.
Son; "Actually mum, fuck you and your life experience, drugs don't have any consequence" as the easy, relaxed and popular archetypal stoner popped through the tykes third eye perhaps, or an instinctual reflex of rebellion and relected peer pressure.

Ok, first off - the whole point of smoking eating snorting injecting or otherwise ingesting a substance is to gain an effect of the substance - the consequence.

Second - the brain is like a computer, drugs are like bits of software that you can utilise while they are active in your mainframe, or let run rampant without recognising the effects in the short-term, and overuse or otherwise cause damage to the databanks, logic systems, motor functions and sensory facilities.

Overall, it can fuck with everything about your brain and often your body, nevermind external relationships i.e. school, friends family or work.

My grand point; stop just bigging up drugs like thousands of puppet-clonewes and maybe try showing how they can be a positive and productive aspect of our culture, because otherwise you might just fuck up humanities chances of evolution and drag us down to the lower dimensions, and I won't stand for baggage :X

 

Thanks for your apology bro, accepted. I am also a Buddhist, and sometimes Buddhists do fight, depends on the sect and the Buddhist. I am proud of you for not doing so, however.

But I will humbly offer this...I think it would be much more forgivable to defend yurself against an attack, then it is to lash out at others who had nothing but kindness to offer you. Perhaps we can both meditate on that. Spell check it a wonderful tool for Buddhists and others like us.

Perhaps I have come to the thread a bit late, but I would just like to say:
For me, personally, drugs are kid stuff and a waste of time and money.
And, secondly, try being a Muslima in Virginia Beach, VA, the Christian Broadcasting Network capital and home of Pat Robertson.
I know how it feels to be persecuted my friend.

One of the principle unspoken tenets of Hippiedom is "live and let live", or "live simply so that others can simply live". When we are not sure of our selves, our choices of our lifestyles (or religion, yadda yadda...) we want everyone to live and act and think just like us.

It's none of my business if someone smokes pot, eats hay or drinks their own urine. It does not affect me. The REAL issue with pot is that tens of thousands of people who are harmless are having their lives destroyed by insane pot laws.

Hippies who are down on potsmokers are mind blowing, and obviously don't get it. Ya don't like drugs? Don't do em. Ya don't like Pot (which is not a drug, it is an herb with psychoactive properties) don't smoke it, eat it, drink it. It's that simple.

Pot haters are not different from any other haters. Everyone has their jones, nobody is completely clean, it may be TV it may be something else, but focus on your own life and let others experience in the order that they are meant to. Let us experiment, we are not hurting anybody.

If there is a drug I have not trued it must have been invented in the last few years. Do I regret taking some of them? Certainly. Did I make mistakes? yes. Would I want someone to have been able to prevent me from doind do? No fucking way!

So bugger off and chill pot haters, and try not to swear and use insults, pot smokers.
We all have to live in this little shrnking ball of stardust together, so we better all start focusing on our strengths and shared experiences rather than our weaknesses and superficial differences. Imagine this thread being read to victims of the tsunami...they would shake their heads in the sillyness of it all.

You may now persecutuion my friend, I will grant you that. But you don't yet have 700,000 of your people in jails and prisons, as pot users do. You may laugh at comparing a religion with cannabis, but millions of us take it religiously and are that serious about it. Many of us deeply respect your reigious and cultural beliefs, all we ask is the same in return.

I was not being disrespectful. Perhaps I misrepresented myself. I said, for myself, pot is kid stuff. And being kid stuff, of course it is ridiculous to put people in prison for it. I think that all drugs should be legal, and people must make their own choices and face their own consequences for doing them. Hope we better understand eachother.

 

No problem bro. I was actually refrerring to a different post in regards to the respect issue. I was replying to your statement about being oppressed and whatnot. But I apologize to both of ya if I came off too intense.

I was responding that although Muslim Americans have to put up with intense persecution, at least, so far, ya'll are not going to prison for minimum mandatory sentences for practicing your religion and lifestyle. That is not to minimize your situation at all. I have great rspect for ya, and for the bro I originally posted about too.

Actually, do you know how many muslims are in Guantanamo Bay prison camp and other places, just for practicing their beliefs? Many are labled terroists. Boys as young as twelve. And the war in Iraq is killing many innocent Muslims as well. It is very easy to be a terroist these days.
