well if facebook is going to stay alive, they need to branch out or else they will be another myspace.

 

It's a pretty useless site filled with nothing but advertising that 99% of the users ignore

 

Every online banking site should be viewed as such.

The more your money and banking info is not in a computer the safer you'll be.

Cash is the answer to all your purchasing needs. Just make sure you can get it back if the product fails. Lots of places will not give you your money back because you paid in cash. See where this is going?

In the future you will own nothing because all it will take is one person to hit the 'delete' key under your account and your fucked. Good thing some of us will have cash and other batering needs.

someone needs to come out with something like 'simple social' or something. like facebook was in the beginning. photos, events, wall posts, private messages, nothing else. you're only searchable by what you want to be searchable by, and only people you approve can see your stuff. non of this friends of friends bullshit. no location tracking, no games/apps/whatever. couple banner adds at the top, like HF, and that's it. it would do well I think.

also, no rule against using fake names.

edit: and when you delete something, it is deleted... no records of anything you decide that you don't want a record of.

Hey we don't need this stuff because all it is, is an illusion.
It's ok that you play with it once in a while but where it's really at is actually physically being with people.

Think about it. If you sit down and share a bowl of cornflakes with your neighbor. It could be the worst bowl of cornflakes in the world but you got to actually share the experience with someone. You get to laugh about the taste or spit out the food or decide to feed the birds what's left... The point is that a lousy tasting bowl of cornflakes is worth it's weight in gold when you share it with others.

None of this junk can replace that and it never will.

Just tune into actual people and stop worrying about the other stuff. Love is all you need and life is so much better when it's also the only thing you want

Facebook entering into finance business goes to show the necessity and popularity of money. MONEY is not going to go away. Even in an event that would wipe out credit and destroy economies, people will utilize something to artificially represent material goods - whether it be rare-earth minerals or some sort of plastic chip with the queen's tits imprinted onto em.

 

I ain't stoned and I stopped chasing the dollar a long time ago. It's pretty silly chasing money when you consider we're all going to die sooner or later.

Right I have 6 boxes of cherry pie filling under my kitchen table. I got them because their car broke down on the highway and I drove them to a garage. When the mechanic said he could tow the car to the garage but was closing and couldn't fix the it before monday. So I let them stay at my house free of charge.

Now I'm never going to use that much pie filling but someone will come along and I'll give it to them. They may or may not give me something in exchange but that's not important to me.

When you let go and stop wanting the junk you don't need. Then other things come along. Life is actually only as complicated as you make it.

the problem with using pie-filling as a form of getting something that you want (or need) is that not everyone wants or needs pie-filling. this is why money exists.

you can continue living in your pretend world where everything comes and goes, but there will be a day when the LSD dries up and you have nothing but fucking pie filling to eat, and you'll go - damn, I wish I at least had a somewhat conventional job that paid me money so that I could have a balanced diet and could provide for my children.


that isn't to say that you CAN'T provide and have all your comforts, but it is very, very, very difficult. I said it in a different thread that came to a similar topic - people need to adapt their ideal life to fit in to the real world, otherwise they will come under some sort of struggle. Maybe you could adapt your free love ideal and become a prostitute.
