what kinds of things does a person buy to max out 4 credit cards??

i don't think i've purchased a single thing on my credit card that i didn't have money in the bank for. but that's come from being frugal my whole life..

It wasn't done on purpose, I was trying to build a business and at the same time do wasteful things like eat once a day and pay the electric, internet, heat... (yeah internet, what a waste seeing as it was an online business, why the fuck did I need the internet)

You know, just throwing money away that I didn't have.

Hey, that's how they told us to do it... bite the bullet, go into debt 'n all that...that's just what ya gotta do to "play the game"
    the great consensus chimed...

kudos for sticking your neck out...

Yeah...I would've done it if it made sense to me...I just can't do things I don't understand, it is seen as a flaw to most people.

Sears card was the first I tried was turned down. Then I tried 3 others and was turned down. Then discover gave me a $5,000 limit. Its strange going from one that dosnt want you to another that will give you more than you need. Now the ones that turned me down wont leave me alone.

I got mine back in november and only accidently went like 3 cents over on it. its difficult to get it lowered cause you end up spending what you put on it. thats my problem but i make sure its no where near my limit

Don't do it! It will be the Death of you...!

They do come in handy in emergencies.

However the emergencies become more routine and the next thing ya know you're drowning in debt you can never repay and the usurious interest rates can double your debt in just a few years.

I remember my friends, a couple from Amsterdam (the Dutch are smart about money, they have low debt, and only in the past decade have embraced credit cards). They got their first credit card and at first only used it buy things over the Internet and book trips and paid them off when they got back.

A couple of years later, they're maxed out on the cards...

And guess what happens when you max out? They raise your limit and send you lots more CC offers!

So you go further down that rat hole...never to see daylight.

I'd be doing great myself if I didn't have so much debt. Just enough left over for food and rent.

Oh but Skip, aren't you making millions from all the subscriptions???? I'd LMAO if it wasn't so sad. A year's worth of subscriptions barely pays for one month's server fees. Only the ads are keeping this place alive, and they're all about to disappear as the economy crashes further.

it seems to me that if having a credit card means i automatically spend all kinds of money i don't have, then having the money that i do have in the bank would also lead to automatic wasting of money.

this is exactly why I never even wanted one before. I've always been able to save up for things when i want/need them. But I want to buy a house eventually. Well, my wife does. Never be able to save up for that. I don't like the idea of being stuck somewhere though.
