    Hey Peaceful Libra,

I am actually taking Prozac. My doctor went from 15 mg to 30 mg after about a week. I eventually complained that it makes me very sleepy so he just said to take it at night. The following thing he said to that is that I can lower the dose to 15MG at any time I like.

One of the things that a therapist tells you is to tell them whats on your mind. That's what they're there for. They are there to help you and won't ridicule you. However, your doctor may tell you not to lower the dosage because one of the reasons you're feeling better is because of the medication. Once you take less you may go back to how you felt before. That is something that many that take antidepressants do. They feel better with the medication then discontinue or lower the dose then go back to how they used to feel.

Even so, your doctor wants to hear about your plans and ideas. He/she can't help you otherwise. Let your doctor know if lowering your dose is a good idea.

    Good luck PB

    That.

Why do you need to tiptoe around it?

Bear in mind that you may be falling into the classic antibiotic style trap.... feel better, stop taking it (or stop taking enough for you), same problems.... and with things like prozac depression often seems to keep people from getting treatment FOR depression, which is obviously a problem. So be careful and keep in touch with your doc, tell them what you think and get a discussion going about your dose.

I mean, asking your doctor for a higher dose of speed is something that needs tiptoing around, talking about adjusting your dose of anti-depressant DOWN is not something that should be a problem. If you don't think you can approach them and be taken seriously, maybe you should find a new doc, and/or consider that they might have you on that dose for a reason, and the plain fact that it doesn't work everafter, if you're better now and lower your dose, you may/will not keep being better.
