So this moochin ass roommate living in my basement doing nothing got removed by the police today.. He had a warrant for food stamp fraud and used that as an excuse why he couldn't get a job, couldn't leave the house much, and yadda yadda yadda. He was working on three months of "I'm planning on turning myself in in a few days, I just gotta get this, this, and that done." after warning him three or four times over the last month that I'm gonna call the cops on you if you don't do it, I finally did it.. It's friday, and the day after his 30th birthday. I woke up at about 2 and turned him in while he was zonked out at 4pm, and then went to work. THe cops came in the basement, had him put his shoes on and grab his wallet and took him to jail. I get to smoke his weed he had left too as a bonus. OK, I'm not really a "narc" because I'm not the one who got him in trouble in the first place. I just helped him along to do something he was gonna have to do regardless. What did he think he was gonna hide out in everyones basement for the rest of his life?
At least he could celebrate his birthday in your basement How did he get in your basement again by the way (i would probably have less patience)?
Food stamp fraud is when you get foodstamps and use them for something other than food...or if you get foodstamps and you're not supposed to...I guess. I know there was a gas station near where I lived one time that would buy foodstamps and give you cash for them...that would be foodstamp fraud. How unhippy of you to Narc on your friend...you were supposed to let him live there indefinitely and supply him an endless supply of drugs while always telling him "it's all good"...
I googled that shit, apparently it is when people sell their cards for less than the amount of 'food money' and then tells the food stamp people that it was stolen.. so i guess they get another card with more money on it?
No, it still comes out of that person's account, so saying you lost it would not get a person "extra" food money. you would just get another card and the first would be cancelled, so they would then have the person they sold it too coming after them. He most likely falsified the information to qualify for them.
I've heard of people selling food stamps too, which is illegal, but apparently very common these days.
Yes that's one type of fraud. However living in someone's basement with no income MAY qualify one for food stamps (if he maintains his own kitchen/food storage). Ratting on one's friends gonna bring you some Karma.
I dont know their is only so much you can do for a freind and being personally stuck in a similar situation where I did not call the cops the outcome was less thn pleasant aka wakeing up to all of my pot gone and (alot of pot) and 2500-3000 both cash and property missing and him nowhere to be found. Thou i still wouldnt have snitched I wouldnt have let him be their in the first place but hey live and learn right?
well i don't believe anyone on here is going to give the op a medal. if he didn't want someone avoiding human contact and living in his basement, why in the hell did he ever invite him to do so in the first place. sounds like entrapment to me. was he doing anything harmful to the op or his place of residence? by harmful i include making an anoyance of himself, demanding attention in some way, if not, what was the problem? also, if he had neurotropic substance, how had he been able to attain it if he never left the house? was he growing it? FOR the op? what the op growing it and intentionally addicting his 'guest' to it? it is a good bet real narcotics officers do frequent boards like this one. why the hell would anyone expect that to not be the case?
I wouldn't say you are a "narc". That implies you ratted someone out for drugs. I would say you are someone who chose to avoid direct conflict and asserting yourself in the matter of telling this guy to move on. You chose what you thought was the easy way out for you.
he got food stamps the legal way back in the day he did some ghetto food stamp transaction in the middle of the store and the cashier was like, "oh hell no" and thats how he got busted. the harmful things that he was doing by living in my basement include Causing undue stress between my wife and I. Leaving the basement door UNLOCKED when nobody was home leaving CRT tv on all the time and the fan Talking back to me like i'm a piece of shit when i express disapproval of something. not stocking the fridge with his LEGAL foodstamps of 200 a month. He bought chips and pop and cigarettes and whatever the fuck else he wanted with it at the Bodega that lets everyone do it.. hell even people get him to buy beer and pay him like half price. and Jimmy P - "his own time" came and went three times. aparently he needed a little push Granted he felt like he had to leave the shit unlocked because he didnt have a key... WHY THE FUCK would I give him a key? If you're gonna live somewhere for FREE you need to plan your schedule around the people with keys.
we had the conflict a bunch of times. I told him that i'm gonna do it. obviously i didnt tell him the exact moment, because that would render it useless while he ran off somewhere and the cops get mad at me for calling them on someone who keeps running off. So yeah, I had to do it without is immediate knowledge of it.. HE HAD FOREHAND KNOWLEDGE
life isn't about what anyone owes anyone, it is about what the hell kind of a world do we want to have to live in. i fail to see how anyone who had to "plan his life around the people he lived with" COULD get or keep job of any kind while doing so.
Sounds like you had a real free loader on your hands. I guess the only thing you might have done was sit his stuff out and lock him out of your house.
that would be even more fucked up because this guy REALLY had no place to go but jail... This is like the sixth time he's been kicked out of places for doing all this same shit over and over, and (yes i know im stupid) this is the SECOND time I have kicked him out for this very reason. Only Last time, I didnt send him to jail. His lazy ass left cups full of piss all around the basement so i took a picture and posted it on facebook and tagged him on each one. it's been My house, His Mom's house, and his buddy Dave's house, all of which he stayed at twice.
