So my journey begins, well...it began! About 2 months ago now. I've been sneaking around looking at everyones advice and pictures and felt compelled to join in on documenting my journey. So there it is, its always been kind of annoying how easily my hair knotted up ( without my wanting it to) My friend, who is also my hairdresser, said she was surprised I held off this long with letting my hair do what it naturally wanted to do. Long story short, I wanted dreads, I think they are beautiful no matter what technique or style you have as long as you love them! So here are some pictures of the first few weeks, No Wax, just salt water spray. A little backcomb, little twist and rip on the first 2 days, but I've just let them be since them (besides a little decor :)) ....I've heard Aloe can help but are there any natural ways to help with the frizzies on top? (besides covering them with a scarf) Or is it just a patients problem, all in time?
Lets see if I can get these pics right?[IMG]

Thanks! And good luck to you, my friend did a cool fishtail braid for me. I didn't want to take it out I loved it. Im gonna try to get a picture of the back while they're loose, I wanted to wait until my hair grew out pretty long before I committed to dreads, and I felt the time was right. I'm in love with my baby dreads, my only regret is not doing them sooner.

my hair was about shoulder length so they are pretty short and super fluffy compared to yours :p i am hoping it doesnt take too long for them to tighten up a bit but i am not doing much interfering at all just making sure they dont all join together! i started them the same as you, a bit of sectioning twist n rip n a smidge of back combing on a couple. i cant wait till they are long but i almost dont want them to dread completely because i find fussy and free so much fun! haha also i call mine baby dreads too! so cute! lol

i cant wait till they are at least tight enough to try some hair styles! i dont blame you not wanting to take that braid out! just gorgeous! i dig the rustic looking wraps that you have on a few of them too!

just a tip: wraps tend to stunt the growth of them!

Very nice. Personally I wouldn't worry about the frizzies.

    Aloe will actually slow locking.

It's just used like a natural dread-safe styling gel, to temporarially hold down loose hair...... Like, for weddings, or summons, or whatever.

Frizzes will always be part of the territory to some extent. New hair growth and what not.
