Quite a bit of the free stuff is clean functional software, some of it isn't. I always scan a file after downloading before I run or install the software just to be sure. I never hit "run" when I have a "save" option. Save it, (make sure you know where it's saved to) Scan it with MSE and Malwarebytes and then run it. After it's installed I remove the saved file unless I feel a reason to keep it... Like for one of my other systems.

Delete a file? Good lord, I still have files from 10 or 15 years ago. even files that I do delete, go to the trash, which may never get deleted. This has come in handy, when you lose a HDD or suddenly need a file or email that you had gotten five years ago.

I have found a lot of good apps at www.freeware.org, www.majorgeeks.com, and others. I am gonna check out these sites too, it's always good to have more resources.
