Less than half of the LSD degrades, even when it is in liquid that is not distilled water, and it is at 45 degrees celsius!

Because I know so many of you store your LSD in your piss.

What was the purpose of this study, and why would someone store their LSD in their urine?

i knew that storing my lsd like this would one day pay off.

strange though... 32 degrees celcius is really hot. almost a 100 degrees. why would they test it at such a hot temp?

as if a study about lsd in urine wasn't worthless enough, why not frozen urine samples?

Would they be using this for urine analysis? I know that LSD is not one of the tested NIDA 5 drugs, never knew that it was possible to test for in urine. weird study.

Researchers definitely tripping balls to come up with this study.

It is possible to test for in urine, it's just not part of the standard 5-panel test.

Both LSD unaltered and a metabolite, 2-Oxo-3-hydroxy lysergic acid diethylamide (O-H-LSD), are both present and tested for in urine, at least according to the related articles.

    Yes, sadly it's about detecting it in urine for drug screening, not storing for future use. If you go to the page of the article on the right hand side are related articles and they are all about different aspects of drug testing for LSD, as demonstrated by this excerpt from one of the other articles;
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10774536

"Sixty-eight human urine specimens that had previously been found to contain LSD by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry were reanalyzed by both procedures for LSD and O-H-LSD. These specimens contained a mean concentration of O-H-LSD approximately 16 times higher than the LSD concentration. Because both LC methods produce similar results, either procedure can be readily adapted to O-H-LSD analysis for use in high-volume drug-testing laboratories. In addition, the possibility of significantly increasing the LSD detection time window by targeting this major LSD metabolite for analysis may influence other drug-free workplace programs to test for LSD."

What that means is that it will be easier to detect and they have a longer time to test for LSD.
    Isn't that nice.:(

they tested 37C, which is body temperature. or about 98.3 F.

so 32C isn't quite as hot as you think, but still high 80s F (a guess)

"This study demonstrates the importance of proper storage conditions of LSD in urine in order to insure proper analytical testing results over time."

seems like this study is saying that LSD isn't quite that fragile, at least over the course of 4 weeks :)

But why is the LSD in urine? I don't understand.

IT'S ALL ABOUT TESTING PISS SAMPLES OF DRUG ADDLED LSD FREAKS LIKE US!!!!!!!!!

THEY ARE TESTING DIFFERENT POSSIBLE STORAGE ENVIRONMENTS/CONDITIONS THAT TESTING LABS/POLICE/IN TRANSIT, MIGHT ENCOUNTER.

AM I the only one that read the abstract and the other related ones?

Oh lol. I didn't see that there was a link.

I wasn't aware that LSD could be tested for in urine with any real practicality.

it seems like for part of this study they actually "laced" urine with LSD.

no, noxious, you aren't the only one :)

i may have to read this whole paper out of curiosity, and i think my school's library website will let me access full text articles from pubmed on my home computer...with a login maybe. do i want that on some record..?

lol yea this is totally for drug screening.

glad to know that something as rare as an lsd lab test is being used to further crack down on lsd users, rather than explore the potential benefits of LSD - human interaction.

It definitely is a study that was carried out in order to look at how long LSD can be detected in urine for drug testing, but I think it also speaks something about the stability of the LSD molecule.

Many times have I been told that putting LSD in my wallet and in my pocket for a few minutes or so will destroy the LSD. Well, if it only degrades 40% after four weeks of being stored in urine in the dark, at 37C.. a little bit of pocket heat won't do it any harm.

that was sort of my thinking as well, CS.

but then i thought that maybe it's not quite the same for an actual dose.
both amounts are insanely small, but the amount in urine was likely smaller, and maybe already converted to other compounds...in an equilibrium with it's inactive isomers. so MAYBE it's not as susceptible to degradation.
that's kinda why i wanted to read the whole paper, to see about this issue.

also, it's only one study. (but once MY study is on pubmed, you better believe it!)
