Ok I'm from the uk, and we are not devoid of henious crimes from time to time. However I was bored and going through YouTube vids. Well I have just spent 50mins watching the trial of the knocksville murders. I'm totally stunned and sickened. A nice couple returning from a meal together were car jacked and taken back to a house where they raped and murdered those two people. If that isn't despicable in itself. The media and police tried to down play as not a hate crime. I'm enraged! Now I'm not naive to think that when stuff like this happens, that they have to be carefull of a backlash , but there comes a time when you need to say fuck that and call it for what it was. IMO trying to cover it up only makes the resentment fester more. Now I know it was a few year ago, but I have Only just discovered it, and I honestly feel pretty down after seeing those vids.
I don't think you understand what hate crime is. There is literally no evidence that the Knoxville murders were a hate crime beyond white people screaming, "Look, black people were involved!", and are also the same people clamoring that the news media ignored the case because the victims were white and the perpetrators black, which conveniently ignores the fact the national media ignores every murder never gives any attention to normal murders or missing people unless it's a special case since there are so many in the US every year, or unless they're a white woman. Scott Peterson, Elizabeth Smart, that woman in Aruba, media couldn't shut up about it. Basically, this is the shit from white people who think that white people are truly the oppressed people of the United States.
What are you on about? I don't know the murders you mean, but, SO? Because there's black and white people involved does not make it a hate crime, unless you are, yourself, an unashamed bigot and see the world like that.
never heard of this case. "hate crimes" as generally defined almost never actually happen. people kill each other all the time, and sometimes they aren't the same race. every once in a great while, that racial difference is the reason for the violence.

If it was a simple car jacking I'd agree, but to take the couple back To thier house and rape and then murder them well, it most defo was a hate crime.
So, despite the fact that nothing pointed to it being a hate crime, you think that the severity makes it a hate crime? A hate crime is not just a bad crime, it's a case of religious, ethnic, sexual, racial, etc hate motovating a crime. If it was not a hate crime, that's it.... no matter how severe or benign it was.
