Honestly this is specific.

 

So we would test the postulates of the existence of god against the existence of nature. If effects are promised then we see if we can find examples of those effects.

One such predicted effect is rest.

Come unto me all who toil and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Rest is an abstract phenomena. In our lives, the mind is naturally abstract.

Rest is an effect then, of mind.

We have countless testimonies of mindful rest.

You don't need it because enough measure of good is evident to you. As far as the thrilling nature of beholding the evidence, the evidence is we care more or less for it.
