I don't really understand what it could find, there are already little robots up there doing the same thing anyway, and satellites taking pictures. Just seems like another waste of money, could be wrong though!
This is the biggest robot as far. It is going to study rocks and minerals, look for traces of life that might have existed there in past. Will continue doing what other robots ended. Will search for organics, water. And shitload of other things. They really didn't send it there because they were bored. I understand that you might be not interested in all of that or don't have any knowledge about topics related to it, but saying that it is another waste of money is just too fucking ignorant for me. http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/
