Just finished watching the first season. Quite enjoyable. It held my interest, good characters and storyline. I'll be watching Season 2.
My husband and I were recommended to watch Game of Thrones, and I'm so glad that we were told about this. We sat down and watched the first season in two days. We have been patiently waiting for Season 2 to start and so glad that it's back on. I look forward to Sundays only because of Game of Thrones! My father in law has read the books and watches the TV series and he states the books and tv series are pretty accurate-I like that in shows.
yeah they've kept with the books fairly accurately. always going to be some minor changes and loss of some parts of the plot, but that's hard to avoid. i download the episodes after they air, so i'll probably have to wait until tomorrow night to watch tonight's episode, unless i decide to stay up late lol.
The second season, so far has been good. The last two showings have gotten a little weird but I like the direction that it takes me. I'm always left wanting more after each show. Can't wait to see what happens. I'd love to have the King Jeoffrey punished and that bitch of a sister taken care of.
i love Game of Thrones ! :2thumbsup: i've only seen the first season (obviously) but i watched it all in about one night, i just couldn't stop watching... I still think Breaking Bad is the best tv series of all times, but Game of Thrones is a close second (but yea, it's difficult to compare, considering i've only seen one season, whereas i've seen 3 seasons of BrBa, and it's a completely different genre !)
Me too. I'm listening to the books on audio while waiting for the next season. I just wonder where or what direction the next season will go. In the meantime I've got True Blood tiding me over.
They really put a lot of effort into the visual effects of that show... costumes, landscapes, etc... impressive to say the least. Good story, too. Strange show... got really into it then just kinda lost interest. Still haven't finished the second season.
Oo! I love it, too! Great show and the unexpected twists and turns remind me of my old history books.
It is heavily inspired by the history of England around the rose wars. Well the books that is. I really like the tv series as well but I read the books before the series and you really miss a lot of background. I also thought it seemed to go rather quick in the tv series but I understand with all these characters you can't drag it out any longer. I guess job welldone indeed. But if you like the setting and to read a book you definately should read the books! They are called A song of ice and fire by the way
I've read all the books and I'm awaiting the release of the next book.....the last book really left us in the lurch.....same as that danged "Outlander" bitch of the Outlander series, Diana Gabaldon,.....they sure know how to ensure that we buy the next offering!! But the Game of Thrones HBO series? Only saw one or two episodes and then lost track....I liked what I saw but I'm not much of a one to sit and watch TV......I have to say the imagery is spot on from what was manifested in my brain pan. The the series is great....that Mr Martin sure likes to kill off characters in the most unexpected ways.. That's why I like it, he keeps us on our toes & I get blind sided everytime! Must Confess, I don't know much about the War of the Roses....but I do love history,...must investigate.
If you look at a map of Westeros it's almost exactly like England. The wall? That's the wall the emperor of Rome put up between England and Scotland. The English & Anglo-Saxons used to call the English Channel The Narrow Sea, so that's another thing that's taken from history right there. Qarth=Saracens? Sure seems so to me! I think the author chose aspects from throughout English history, not just the War of the Roses.
Must say that inspiration is focussed on the happenings on Westeros. Although there are obvious links to other historical periods with other places in the books. Like Rome/ancient Greece and of course the mongolians. These may be viewed as rather loose inspirations though. The most apparent is late medieval england/france history that inspired the political events on Westeros.
Does any one else want John snow to marry daenerys Targarden and then take the iron throne together I feel like that's the best possible ending oh and Sansa should like grow some labIa and be more aggressive no more lil dove more like big she wolf and she would like mount an army from the vail lol I dunno I love the books
