I happened upon this board while performing a google search on "LSD for Treating Anxiety." Acid has always been one of my favorite recreational drugs. Haven't done it in about 7 years. Been going straight and seeing many psychs for anxiety and depression for many years now. I have extreme anxiety. Just builds in my chest and snowballs. The list of medicines I've been on is endless. I am currently coming off my mood meds and will be staying on my anxiety meds for a while. I just attained several hits of purple paynes and of course my first instinct is to trip my balls off. However, I want to learn how LSD is administered so it prevents anxiety. I know it's a much lower dose, same with MDMA and shrooms. So, that brings me to you. Can you help me with this. I am at the end and need a solution. I have been diagnosed with treatment resistant depression/ anxiety. Thanks.
Psychedelics at substantial doses are useful for end of life anxiety because the trip allows for confronting mortality, perceiving alternate dimensions and all the other existential thoughts and perceptions that one may confront on a psychedelic trip. MDMA may be useful for social anxiety for some. For General anxiety, I don't really know how effective psychedelics are. The fact that each trip can be dramatically different even with the same drug and dose doesn't bode well for a consistent type of 'cure' for anxiety and in fact may even worsen it. I rarely take low doses but I often hear on here that sometimes low doses can even heighten anxieties during the trip compared to higher doses because it's sort of a limbo state between holding onto consensual reality and experiencing the psychedelics state. I know there are a few individuals here who have microdosed some psychedelics, which is dosing basically at a minimal threshold of psychoactive effects and I don't know the efficacy of that method and haven't really heard much about microdosing lately.
LSD psychotherapy could be used to treat general/social anxiety. Mis-used/guided recreational LSD could have also contributed to your problems. You might try finding someone, if you run in the right (eccentric) circles, who would guide you with LSD psychetherapy. Or you might try reading up on it and doing it on your own, I do believe that psychedelics can be great tools for self help, if used properly and responsibly. As a treatment for general anxiety you would be using a hefty dose to face yourself and the world around you, and accept them. This is a common effect of LSD even when it's not meant to be (leading cause of bad trips, or right behind people convinced they have "bad acid", I'd say....), but you would probably need an exceptional dose and to go into it prepared for a large change in life outlook, you need to generally rewire your methods of looking at things. So..... you're already going in the wrong direction, it's a really HIGH dose that is needed for a psychedelic reversal of attitudes and habits of thought. The idea is something along the lines of let go of all your baggage and just grab back onto the positive parts. It could be a very painful trip, or a very happy one. And there's no promise of success, especially without qualified help. Also, you need to be totally off all meds, for what could even be months (depending on exactly what you're taking) before you trip.
