I saw a show where they were educating farmers in China about the effects of dams on their farm land. The only compensation the farmers got was a few dollars they used for food. Their entire livelihood was destroyed, and now they pick through garbage all day and have land at all. A film crew came into the remote regions where a new dam was to be built, and showed them the effects. Caused an uproar, and the government postponed the construction for more in depth environmental study. A sign that the tides are changing in China.
