Last winter I got pulled over by a friendly police officer because my license plate was stolen off of my car. I hadn't noticed it when I hurried to my car. He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over to which I answered no, he then explained I was missing my license plate. I told him no way as I gave him my registration. He looked everything over and then asked how many cars I owned which I told him two. He said that often people buy one plate and move that one plate from car to car, I told him that both of my cars had the proper plate on each. After he gave me everything back I got out of the car to see if there was any damage to the plate holder or to see if the thief took the holding bolts. The officer was in his cruiser and was caught off guard when I stepped out of the car unto fresh snow without any shoes. He asked me if I was okay I replied yes. He just stared puzzled without asking anymore questions. Needless to say I was late for work as I had to stop at the BMV to obtain a replacement plate. It was still early and only a few folks in there no one mentioned my barefeet or the fact that there was snow out. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar encounter.
Really???? Are we on this again???!! I live in Ontario and the only thing a cop said to me was, "if you were naked, i might have a problem with that."
i once thought this also, however I often wear no shoes driving. I have better pedal control barefoot. I know my foot is on the pedal perfectly. not half assed, and when its raining my foot slips more from the pedal with shoes on then when Im barefoot.. a few weeks ago , seen a women pull on the emergency lane on the west end bridge to ask the police at the light a question. She was barefoot..
Once again a topic from the BF forum pops up on the front page of the site and non-BF'ers go nuts. Driving barefoot IS NOT illegal!!!! Thank you and carry on.
......no. Flip-flops are generally not illegal, but it's easy to see how they COULD be dangerous in some vehicles. My state does have laws requiring closed footwear on motorcycles or scooters, presumably because an injury could cause harm to others, co make you fall over at an intersection or whatever..... and you would have a pretty hard time dragging anytthing if you lost your brakes..... But if you're not wearing closed footwear on a motorcycle you're a total fucking moron.
Not exactly. But it is a bit defensive. If I recall correctly, when I first got a license, flip flops were a no no in Texas. But one of those oft overlooked deals, unless you were a dirty pinko hippi.......hey, I resemble that remark.:daisy:
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that only applies to motorcycles.... they just count on you not knowing that. And it's unlikely that many cops, OR judges, know it, so you have to do some work to get off if you get in trouble.
that wouldn't happen to be Alabama, would it? IIRC, on the barefoot.org site, they had a list of states to prove it is not against the law to drive barefoot and the only state which came close was Alabama who strongly suggest shoes when on a motorcycle.
well, driving barefoot being illegal is a pretty common myth, asking about it isn't exactly "going nuts." back on topic (yes, there was an original topic here) i wonder if the cop did anything to suggest he had a problem with barefooting or if the OP just decided that there was an issue with it because of martyr desire.
The cop was probably confused because you were barefoot in the snow. Not because you were barefoot, not because you were checking out your car. But because snow is cold on the tootsies.
This post made me laugh. =] I have pretty bad ocd too and I Always drive barefoot. I can not stand the feeling of shoes on my feet while driving. Barefoot feels sooo nice and yeah why do so many people think it's illegal to do so? I remember my teacher in drivers ed mentioning how it's not illegal to drive barefoot.
If you are going to go to the effort of publishing a condemnation of others, have the decency to spell according to convention: "whack"
I haven't seen you post in this forum before, and your initial posts made it sound like you DON'T go barefoot, or have a problem with people who do. I've seen several instances of someone making a new thread here, it shows up on the front page of HF.com, and then people who don't usually come in this forum come in here to make anti-BF remarks. Get over yourself.
Here, here! People ARE people.... It does seem odd that, particularly in Hip Forums, people from other groups peek in here now and again and make only negative comments. Everyone has a right to disagree, but a little civility (and maturity and spelling skill) ....
