We also have these great old inventions called our legs. I suggest utilizing them at the earliest opportunity. :)

where in northern cali do you want to go? where are you at now? be careful hitching, try to bring someone else with you in case some nutjob picks you up.

    get:
    a tarp
    knife
    flashlight
way to make money even if it's just a marker (flying the old sign)
    map (not a bad idea)
    can opener
    food stamps!
maybe bug spray ( i live in florida)
water canteen or something like that (in case you wanna drink beer, or *sigh* water)
if you can find a small tent that too

i stayed in mendocino village/ft.bragg area for almost a year. if you like smoking good buds go there. be warned: it's fucking cold, hardly any sun, and in the wintertime it sucks (rain season) right now till the end of october/early november is a good time to go there. but leave like right after halloween cuz it's gonna suck

lol you really suggesting to walk all the way there? c'mon man

    fly the sign:

    north please

    san fran please

homeless anything helps got bless (money talks, bullshit walks like the dude im quoting ;)

if you can play guitar, bring a small guitar to busk, i make jewelry which is pretty universal as far as street $$$. tourist towns are your fav places. STAY OUT OF L.A!!! hell stay out of the major cities, you'll get preyed on.
have a good time :D and keep your witts about you

Never heard of the Pacific crest trail have ya, slappy?
It's along the east, but it goes all the way through Cali, and then Oregon and Washington.
Fewer people have hiked the whole thing in a go than have summited Everest, so it is serious bragging rights.

Amtrak Bakersfield to Eureka, train from Bakersfield to Martinez, bus to Eureka, is $79.
No checked bags on the bus, so one has to travel light.

That's actually cheaper than my trip to Arcata from the Bay Area.

like i said i live in florida so no i havent heard of it. me personally i'd try to take a greyhound bus. you can go to ukiah and eureka on a greyhound.

only went to cali twice: when i was a teenager i went to haight ashbury for a couple months. i also got to drive down all the way to hollywood during that trip and i was like-- FUCK THIS PLACE--. so i went back to san fran.
then in 2010 i took a greyhound to ukiah and stayed in mendocino village for like 6 months after chilling in ft.bragg for a couple months. ft.bragg sucks. mendocino village is fucking awesome.

on the east coast we have trails and stuff too, i've met many ppl that have rode bikes incredible distances. knew a guy that walked from jacksonville to melbourne (255miles easy!) just met a kid-KID today that rode his bike from keywest to here. ^bout the same distance. i rode my bike 60 miles to ft.pierce, and then rode back the other day. knew a guy that walked the appalacian trail to the carolinas.
