I love art, but i haven't been painting in a while and i'm struggling to really get inspired, how do you get inspired? jasmine eace:
by other people doing cool shit...makes me want to do cool shit....go to a different gallery every day for a month...it'll come...
I'm in the same spot currently. It has been a while since I've done mushrooms or DMT which usually give me a creative boost. Watch the movie 'Art School Confidential,' there is some powerful statements in that movie.
I am often motivated to paint or draw, but then I just sit there not having any idea of what to paint or draw... I can see a motive in front of me, but I never know how to execute it. I find it really hard drawing just by imagination.
I've found there's 2 sides.. the technical side which requires a lot of thinking and is based more on logic. Then there's the creative side which isn't logical at all. Shit happens and you flow with it, don't think too hard cos otherwise you sit there with a blank mind. Creativity is pulling something from nothing, so how can you focus on drawing/painting something that hasn't been created yet? Just flow, flow, flow, flow, flow! I think.. I'm very new to the creative side, it's been pissing me off for a very long while now and I'm only just starting to dip my toes in.. but so far that's been working for me. Try drawing some mandalas, the point is to teach you that nothing's a mistake.. and that's very handy to know when you're pulling "something from nothing". Once you've got your idea, switch to logic mode and go, go, go!

I'm more of a music guy, but I find my creativity is very increased when I'm high. As well as my long-term memory, and my sense of visualization. In particular when I'm outside, I find nature reveals itself in very picturesque ways when I'm high. I find myself wishing to draw or paint, simply because of the beauty and contrast of the colors. And especially when the light and clouds combine to reveal a painting in the sky. I would also recommend psychedelics, but those may be rarer around your area. They certainly are for me, and in any case, I'm tight on money anyway. Pot should be enough to motivate you, and allows for repeated uses under tighter budgets.
Thankyou guys, i'll defiantly experiment with all these ideas, I used to have so much flow of imagination and now it's like otters have blocked the flow with their wood haha Thankyou for all your ways and ideas! Do you prefer indoors or outdoors? jasmine eace:
Don't rely on the drugs though.. they help, but you can get there sober. The drugs can show you the way, but try leaving a trail of metaphorical crumbs so you can get back there when you're sober.. by letting go and not clinging. Edit: Outdoors all the way.. and I also prefer getting high outdoors than indoors.
Thankyou MeatyMushroom, I agree with everything you've just said it's just recently i've been struggling
Basically, one of the things that inspires me most is the idea of being unlimited. And I love to do it specially in the beginning, like it is great to go into something new ... inspiration's all there. You may need some discipline too, simply to keep going. Go with your dreams, with nature, with things that move you deeper inside, go with your passion ... just start and don't get distracted by an empty canvas, or the fear of failure. Do not just one but at least half a dozen paintings ... do scribbles and exercises ... and don't seek for inspiration but let it find you.
It's good wise advice, but I know for sure some of the stuff I've written or thought of wouldn't have happened without the herb. There's nothing wrong with relying on it for a while. And let's not forget Alex Grey, psychedelic painter extraordinaire. Most of his paintings are based on his psychedelic experiences. I would prefer getting high outdoors than indoors, but not everyone is blessed with such an opportunity around their parts. There's this whole getting caught thing, you know. That's why I blaze inside to be safe, then go outside right after.
This for fuckin' sure! I've found when I paint with oils I cover the canvas in dirty turps. It makes paint application quicker, and it's a lot less daunting than the untouched white, only problem is you'll need to use a lot more white paint to make the shit opaque, unless you're obviously going for that streaky look And yeah for sure Piper, I've had the best ideas come from ganja - but I can't do anything too serious cos it really fucks up the "logical" side of things for me.. I just can't get the realism. Creativity is on steroids though, no arguments there It's really all about finding the balance, as with everything I suppose..
