Just wanted to wish a happy winter solstice to all the pagans on the forum. I was also wondering how people were going to celebrate this holiday, since I don't know much about paganism. Happy Holidays! In love, Diana
Thanks.. same to you! Finally after today we'll have more daylight.. yeay! And then my favorite season.. Spring! About the celebration.. this is my first Yule and for some reason I have little 'feeling' with this specific holiday so for this time I'm not doing anything too special.. think I'm gonna light a bunch of candles tonight to scare away the darkness Plus here Christmas is a real family thing so I do celebrate that as well (I'm not going to church but I am going to my parents, parents in law and to friends for some drinks etc.) Here in Holland we even have 'two days of Christmas' (so Saturday ànd Sunday this year). My parents are Catholic and they will have a big Christmas tree (which is kinda pagan as well I guess) with small wooden handcarved statues of baby Jesus, Maria, Joseph etc etc.. kinda cute. For me personally, this time is all about the changing of light etc. The weird thing is that where I live, the season gets colder after December so it's not like it's almost spring. But I don't really mind cold, as long as there's sun Anyways.. long story.. to make it short: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Happy Yule back at you and to everyone! Tonight I'm going to my first group celebration... I'm a solitary wiccan, so everything I've done has been on my own or at best, with 1 or 2 other people (friends or family). But I've been invited to go to a Yule celebration near where I live... and I'll be meeting my wiccan e-penpal for the first time tonight too... so that'll be interesting.
Happy Yule everyone. Thanks xdianax for the kind thoughts. Rit this year will be indoors and mellow since I am fighting the flu.
Yeah, get well! Sorry I can't send any healing energies, need them for myself, being egoistic and having a bad cold... I'm going to do a little self-written ritual in the evening and after that put a candle in the window to represent the returning light. Oh, and I was planning to use no electricity, especially light, after sundown untill the ritual, just to remind myself how important light is, not sure whether I'll manage (still have got a lot to do, including Christmas preparations .... urgh), but I'll have a try! Merry Yule to everyone!
MERRY YULE!, everyone. I will be spending my night in the hospital, so I just did some rituals and blessings to the gods after I awoke to start the day right. And I'm with you, Velvet - let's celebrate the returning of the sunlight!!! Whoo Hooo!!
I hope you work in the hospital and not have to go there because you or a loved one is ill? Anyway.. yeay for Light!
Not really ill, ill. I have sleep apnea, where you stop breathing in your sleep. Makes for some real good snorking around snoring. Haha. They are trying to fix me up. Thanks for the good thoughts,
Thank you!! ANd happy YULE! Hey and Tara I have sleep apnea too and it sucks balls! Hope you feel better!
Well, overnight I have turned into Darth Vader. I saw a spell on the net about self blessing supposedly good for negativeity, which I have a major amount of today. Something about salt water and standing and touching different parts of your body with it and asking for related blessings. Is this a good one?, cuz I want to go home and try to shake this off!
Thanks for the well wishes, it seemed to work. I feel loads better now. =) Tarabelle, salt water is an excellent way to dispell negative energy. The spell on the site is a standard blessing. I use this in rit after i create sacred space. The spell should release any negativity around you. Salt water is also good for cleansing a house. Set bowls of salt water in each room as you sage.
Hey, thanks so much! I hadn't heard to do the bowls of salt water while smudging. I appreciate the input.
I've been away! But hope you all had a happy Yule! It was six months that my bf and I are together - strange that we got together on summar solstice... Crazy! So did many of you get to a coven-style celebration, or do your own? I was with parents, didn't have my stuff so wasn't able to do anything... Next time though!! *hugs all round!!* just because!
