Im hoping to get some of you to explain your techniques of making honey oil. Specifically how you burn off the butane. And any other tips you feel like throwing out there. Thank you and I look forward to the responses!
Place the dish with the BHO into another dish that's larger with hot water it in. Make sure to pop all the bubbles. Hope this helps.
you dont burn off butane...it boils at a half a degree..you can hold butane in a cup in the palm of your hand and it will start to boil.... ...you dont need water either...just leave the dish outside for a half hour....after it is evaporated then you can put it somewhere warmer and get any remnants out
with some skill you can pour the extract directly into a dish of warmish water and the butane immediately evaporates leaving an oil slick on the water which can be twirled onto a knife quite easily this method is not for rookies..takes great skill to not fuck it up and make a big mess
Ah, finally some responses! Thanks a bunch. Yes I learnt that the butane leaves pretty fast. Well, it seemed to be best after 24 hours. Far from being any complaints though. Rollingstoned how do I know your response is not fiction? Thanks again for the replies guys!
take a spoon full of extract and dump it in water..thats the only way you will ever know its quite easily found on youtube as well as many other places
It is actually a different type of high. Smoking more weed does not = a honey oil buzz. One of the benefits is that you can use any material, leaves, stems, bud, to extract the good stuff. So it is another means of making use of the whole plant. Money wise it is a better deal, IMHO. I can spend $40 on a good 1/8 of bud or spend $40 on a gram of primo wax (solid honey oil) and the wax will last me a lot longer. The wax I have been getting ranges from 83%-88% total cannabinoids. The most pure you can get is get a product called PureGOLD at a lot of dispensaries (at least in Ca.). A micro-drop will provide a few good hits and it is very potent.
Nobody around here does BHO. I think if I get started in it I may be the only person in 100 miles! It seems like expensive start up too. To get the pipes (IDK the names of them yet). I normally spend $35 for a Quarter of reggie bud. So, you're saying if I (hypothetically) saved all my stems I could use that to extract the honey, and wouldn't have to use the actual bud? That might be worth considering! Wish I knew someone in real life that knew how to do this. It's hard talking to the people working at head shops because you have to be so vague about what words you use. I looked it up on Youtube. It looks like some serious stoner shit to me lol!
butane is among the cleanest gases in the world...gas from the dentist is worse for you...how can a gas that evaporates at .5 c make it through a burning joint?...it cant.... breathing near a car that is running is way worse too and how can smoking a joint of 21% thc be compared to a joint of honey...also....it cant.....the honey oil gets you way way way way way higher and for longer
you again? you will need to save stems for about 5 years to get enough to extract about 3 joints worth....growers save the ''trim'' that they cut off the product before sale....2 ounces of good sugar leaf trim will get maybe 5 grams of oil if you are lucky...probably more like 3....however..some use stright bud to mahe oil and the return can be up to 15 grams of oil from 2 ounces sweetie....5 grams of honey costs 250 dollars to buy...
Don't be condescending, I know nothing about this and I'm trying to learn. So, I take it that 15g of oil will go twice (or more) as far as 2 ounces of green? And obviously you can make it yourself cheaper than you can buy it! That's what my husband and I have been trying to figure out, how much further it actually goes! I knew my stem theory would be far fetched!
sorry if i sounded condescending...i meant to sound noobdescending...jk the good thing about oil is that you can take a tiny bloob and put it on a cigarette or in a pipe...it will last a long time like this....however it is mostly experienced heavy smokers that make the big batches and they tend to also smoke big doobies...so it doesnt always go far also...it makes you cough like a motherfucker if you get a good hit...seen dudes turn fucking green from trying to smoke too big of a hit it is considered a treat by my crowd...something you make and pull out at xmas to impress your friends and mom to answer the ''expense'' of making it...the biggest cost is the 6-8 cans of butane other than the bud...the tube to make it can be found cheap at the plumbing store..the end caps are also available at the plumbing store...all for about 7 dollars give or take...the receptacle is any old bowl from your grammas cupboard.....has got to be done outside....dont smoke and bho
This! I saw a guy on Youtube doing it with the plumbing like you suggested. We may try it that way. I'll look into getting enough green and butane and I'll upload some pics if we succeed!

picked up some wax (BHO) today, and some Silver Jack sativa (top) and some Crunchy Chunk indica (bottom). crappy phone camera! the wax is some of the best I've ever had. This is how it tested: (from weedmaps.com, the dispensary page where I got it.) took one hit and that is all I need for now :sunny: and it really smells like grapefruit! It is nice to be able to check stuff out online and see the actual numbers before making the drive.
Jesus man, you have any secrets to share? I've run some damn fine bud and the most I can yield on an O of chron is around 4-4.5 gs. Fuckin love flower bho.
it can very of course....outdoor commercial weed should get 5 grams off an ounce....i've gotten less lots of times because of varying reasons...rushing it....spillage...weed not dry enough....weed not powdery enough...holes too big....holes too small.....shitty butane i find i get better results in the winter as opposed to the summer...
I use ISO extraction, its easier for me to go get a few bottles of 91% Isoproply Alcohol, a few pyrex dishes, strainer, and a pack of coffee filters At my local walmart than it is to order an extraction tube and all the expensive 5x refined butane that i would need to have shipped for even more money. That is my personal opinion of course but just check out some of this clean oil from ISO extraction. This is the 3.6g run of Ak47 x Blue Berry and Blue Dream x OG Kush i had posted earlyer when it was till evaping. Well scraped it up and squashed it out took some pics. Damn dont mean to toot my own horn but BEEP BEEP! every wash is looking better for me. I did about 6 back to back 20-30 second washes. Filtered them all through the same strainer/coffee filter and into the same bowl, then i just seperated the iso out between 3 plates. Eye balling it im guess in i got .5 - .6g. Only Froze the bud/iso for 14 hours.
