I've tapered down from 16mg to 2mg of suboxone. I have 2 more days on 2mg and them I'm completely off. I only had about 8-10 weeks of suboxone treatment and I just wanted to weigh in on how long suboxone treatment generally lasts. I don't have much of a say because this is through a study so I get what I get but I was really hoping to stay on it longer. What do you think is a good amt of time for recovery? I'm really scared to be on my own without the subs, I've been feeling shitty and cravings are killing me.

I'll be honest, totally depends on how involved your Sub Dr is. Did he give you a plan or leave you on your own? Talking with alot of other Sub users, you will find some that have been on Subs for years, even longer than they were on opiates. Im approaching 10 months on subs, I was at one point down well below where im at now. Found myself treating it like a habit, and was lost on why I was taking it to begin with. 2mg does have the potential of giving you a bit of a headache for its withdrawal but just as soon as I say that, there are those out there that will say they jumped from 2 and felt nothing more than a couple aches and pains. I just got back to following my plan to ween and jump but am currently at 6mg/day. What ive heard preached time and time again is get as low as you possibly can, dont focus on a certain amount and when you cant get any lower, quit! Since you're so close to the end as far as meds go, you could try and spread the 4mgs you have left out. Say tomorrow you take 1mg, howqever you normally do your dose, day after dont take any......etc.
