yes, im going to do this, it is time, my time.

I have thought about dreading my hair for several years...but it never felt right....now more than any other time in my life i can ever recall, the timing is now, its perfect.

I now have a meaning as to why i want them, i know what they represent to me. This is most important.

I sectioned the front of my head and made the first 9 dreads. I am using the twist n rip method. I went slow last night, smoked a little, and almost 4 hours later the 9 looked great. I have enough length in hair where i will be able to do my whole head and still tie them back for work.

I washed my hair that has not been dreaded this morning with baking sode (i have been washing with baking sode for many months now) so hopefully before work today i can get another 3 or 4 done. I know the dreads in the back of my head will be thicker wether i want it or not. The whole front of my head, the sides, and top will be the thickness of my pinkie finger when mature...but we shall see, either way im twisting n rippin so that they will not be huge massive locks thick when mature...no congo for me >.<

They are going to look sick! im excited for next summer ^_^

One of my girlfriends is going to help me with the back part of my head in a few days. It should be easy because my hair is perfect for dreading....it has been asking to dread for long time now....

So im very exicted..i finally know what they will represent....i have been looking for this answer and did not realize it until lastnight....so here we go.

Congrats, I just did mine too via the TnR except it was a bit easier considering I don't have a full head of hair. Can't wait to see the pictures.

I am up to 23 now....the way this is going im going to have between 50 to 60

 

I almost have my whole head done. I dont know how many i have, im guessing 45, and can make another 15.

Hardest part right now is learning new ways to tie this. Im still tying it the same before i started to lock up my hair..but now my ties feel like they are going to snap. The thickness of all my hair when held back as one chuck has quadrupled in size.

I've got 30 dreads done via twist and rip but I'm thinking of going up to around 40, I have an odd averiety of sizes, luckily I only started last week so can easily add a couple more if i wanted.

Good luck maybe you could try using a bandana to tie them back, thats what I do, fold it into a triangle then roll it up and just wrap it round the back then tie it as tight as possible (if that makes sense)

 

When I had dreads I used to take about three dreads from above my ears on each side and tie them together at the back. Instant hairband!

 

My whole head is done. I have a total of exactly 60. Their are a few small ones, but its 60 in total. My friend counted them yesterday.

 

Awesome! Can't imagine 60. I prolly have half that.

 

I have always wanted to try dreads , but never thought it would suit my hair. I have long ass hair. It is about 4 inches below my butt so yeah. My husband had a good thought tho maybe just adding some through out my hair. When I see people with them I am like damn I want some..lol.. I migh get around to doing it one day though I really don't know where to start , but there is a lot of threads on HP about them so I am sure I could figure it out.

Im liking them more and more. I tried to get the locks started using the same amount of hair they would normally use to make my long hair curly. So i think they will work great being the same size...or close...im not taking them out of their element..if ya know what i mean

Yeah i got frizz, but its not bad. I sleep with them using a winter thin neck scarf that i normally use snowboarding. Its kind of like a big sock. I have two of them and also use it for the shower so they dont get wet when im not washing. And man do i just fucking love not having to do a damn thing in the morning and they look the same as when i went to bed, fuck yes. Love that.

 

Id say i have about 5 or 6 now that will lock up with some others. I also am getting laid off of work for 2 months soon so they will have a good period to lock up. About 90% of them are very hard and have hardly loosened up at all. The tips on some have gotten looser and more puffy while others look great.

All in all i think they are doing good and im sure many of them will be a little bigger in a few months.

Who knows what will happen but i bet ill end up with around 50 and not the starting amount i have right now.

The other day i was on the highway doing about 65 to 70 mph (yes i was speeding) and i had my window down. I had NO HAIR BLOWING IN MY FACE hahahaha...im lovin the locks.
