I am a 21 year old female. Recently got my tonsils out (May 31st, 2012). I am a vegetarian for the most part (I eat beans, spinach, nuts, eggs, occasional meat about once a week or less). I take a daily multivitamin and birth control pills (although those aren't necessary, since who can get any anyway??) ha. So I keep getting sick. First I broke out with a rash, then my ankle just fractured from simply rolling my ankle, now my throat hurts, and I think I might be developing a UTI (ew). I'm not a hypochondriac, or at least I never used to be... What should I be doing about my diet or something to help this?
fracturing your ankle isn't 'getting sick', it's breaking a bone. it's easy to do. if you don't drink milk maybe you should make sure you have a source of calcium for bone strength? a rash and a sore throat aren't really anything either, and you don't even know if you have a UTI. it's ragweed season, maybe your throat is from seasonal allergies? you don't sound that unhealthy. if you think something is wrong you should see your doctor.
sounds like allergies. As for the UTI, drink cranberry juice. Even if you DON'T have a UTI, cranberry juice is really good for the kidneys and bladder.
You don't keep getting sick, you keep having a bunch of random health related issues that could really happen to any healthy person.None of them are really related to each other. I prescribe cranberry for the bladder, calcium for the bones, local honey and hot soup for the throat, and daily green tea for your immune system
I know that birth control can have a lot of negative effects on the body. Maybe it's weakening your immune system? I hardly ever get sick, maybe one cold once a year and my cure for it is always orange juice & green tea...
:iagree: We all go through periods of illness, meditation helps and being out more in nature more. I recommend astragalus (for your immune system) and Comfrey (for your bones) both in tincture form.. You will notice the difference in a coupla weeks. I also make lots of juices and smoothies Acai and camu camu are amazing for your system along with lots of other fruits. Your body is telling you to rest something is out of balance and until you start to focus more energy on you, it will keep recurring. Treat yourself to a pamper day, massage or something that you enjoy doing that helps you reduce stress.. It certainly is no fun being unwell, although it will pass as long as you are kind to yourself and start to exercise more, swimming is great and low impact. If it keeps re-occurring insist on a blood test for everything and find out if there is any hereditary disease in your family. Be well :daisy:
become psychosomatic in feeling well.. If you feel well all the time, you will not feel sick.. Its the same as thinking your sick all the time. instead think you are well.
I agree with rainy day, birth control is very bad for your body, but believe it or not so are multivitamins...quit taking the both of them. You want nutrition for. Food, not fake synthesized vitamins. Did you know you could overdose and die on vitamin a, not from plants, but the lab created one in multivitamins? Yuck
multivitamins can be good to take occasionally, but if you're relying on them for the majority of your vitamin intake, you're probably eating a pretty unhealthy diet. birth control can be wonky... my wife stopped taking it and noticed an improvement in her anxiety levels, but no difference with overall health (she's much hornier since stopping the pill though, and more intense orgasms, but that's for another thread i guess). others have touched on this, but making sure you drink enough water and making sure you get good, consistent sleep are really, really important in maintaining overall health. also, smoke weed.
