I made some awesome large bell bottoms.

I when from the knee down- both sides. So I added 2 panels instead of 1.

The fabric is lighter weight then the denim so now it looks like I have wings instead of extensions. They don't sit right- I'm assuming because the denim being heavier "smooshes" the cotton panels.

Anyone have any suggestions to help my bells flare?

    Adding something? Lining?

You need to use fabric of a similar weight to your denim. And topstitch to keep the seam flat.

You could add a lining, but I would just rip the stitches and start fresh.

Use denim. I would start over too.
