Why would one FBI agent have 12 million user IDs from Apple mobile devices on his laptop computer? AntiSec hacked into it and downloaded them all including names, addresses and phone #s and IP#s along with the unit ID #s.AntiSec posted up 1 million of the unit ID#s, stripped of personal info to prove what they say.AntiSec is affiliated with Anonymous.

Is the FBI tracking 12 million terrorists who all use Apple mobile products in the USA?

Why the need for ONE agent to have so many people's personal info?

And this is only the FBI, not the CIA or NSA who don't even have any checks on their snooping.

At some point Congress must put an end to these privacy invasions without court order!

Just imagine what black hat hackers could do with this info!

Thanks AntiSec for bringing out this privacy breach into the open!

Ergh. Can't even walk down the streets nowadays without being watched and probably face-identified by some techno shit too. Do we actually have ANY privacy? I fail to believe we do really... unless we lock ourselves into our houses, block all windows, smash up and dispose of any technology and just hide under a blanket in a double locked cupboard.

It is not just iPhones, or Android, or Insert brand of choice here.
It is all communication by everyday people that is being spied on.
This is one incident that has been exposed.
Granted, there are things you can do to remain "anonymous", but WHATEVER form of technology you use, big bro is going to listen if he wants to.

All this to see Adrian Chen in a tutu with a shoe on his head?

Also: there have been reports that among the stolen UDIDs were 3 (Three!!) belonging to Bill Gates.

    Bill Gates has an iPhone?

Here's how they got the data. FBI can't even secure it's own computers! Or was this Special Agent Christopher K. Stangl's personal computer?

In either case, I don't see how this data in the hands of one agent can be justified. It's not like he's got a case with 12 million suspects...

I liked AntiSec's statement explaining why they did it.

Also their warning to hackers that working for the government is for losers.

I didn't realize that so many hackers ended up dead under mysterious circumstances (including being in a gov't safe house!)

Note: I've corrected the title and my references to LulzSec, as it's AntiSec who is claiming responsibility. Sorry, but I have trouble keeping up with all these splinter groups from Anonymous.

    Awesome.

FBI: there's no EVIDENCE that we did it!

Now they'll try to make the freedom-fighters look like the baddies..... well your personal shit was safe with OUR snooping, but those internet vigilantes, gotta look out for THEM.

Also, batman breaks the law, and so, clearly, is a bad guy.

More Questions: What software was the Agent using to access the database, and what could that software do?

For instance, what about a program that automatically links to that user's device so it can be monitored and calls and data intercepted? Could it be an instant phone/data tap, without warrants? You Betcha!

Or perhaps he just wanted to try to find his ex-wife's phone so he could listen in on her convos or stalk her. Did he have the ability to find the current location of any of those 12 millions phones? You Betcha! Perfect tool for stalkers. And just cause someone's an FBI agent doesn't mean he wouldn't abuse his power to "deal with" an ex or stalk a wife who might be having an affair, etc.

God, look at what happened with Murdock's papers! They not only tapped phones, but the police - Scotland Yard - were accomplices in illegal surveillance.

So the idea that all the hundreds, if not thousands if not tens of thousands of people who have access to this data would never abuse it, is absurd.

That's why there's supposed to be Judicial Review, but that's been thrown aside along with our privacy and civil rights to fight some ambiguous War on Terror, that the US has created itself!

I don't trust the government, not even enough to think that it would be capable of the above allegation. The denial was a flirtatious way of saying that "we are too stupid to have accomplished such an invasion of privacy. But wait, soon...." There are some things that I like about technology's invasion of privacy: cameras in school that identify bullies, cameras that identify crack head robbers of marts, cameras in police cars that are as likely to catch racial profiling or police brutality as anything else, technoligical searches for pedophiles and subsequent evidence obtain to prosecute them.... When I was 16, a cop busted out my two front teeth while standing on my toes so that I couldn't move to defend myself. At that time, youth had no due process rights. The judge simply said, "I don't believe any of our officers would do anything like that." A camera in that booking room then may have given me a chance for at least a civil suit. There is no privacy in cyberspace, yet here we are making sometimes unAmerican statements. Please don't climb into a closet -- organize, fight, and make technology responsible for the welfare of human kind.

We know very well what happens when a vanguard party takes upon itself the task of "saving" the people from themselves, because they're just too damn stupid to do it on their own.

Let's not let it happen again.

The answer is transparency.... NOT sweeping privilege for arbitrarily chosen agents, teams, and offices.

Maybe we should start with bradley manning's freedom?
