Man the history of marijuana in the US is fucked up.. History of Marijuana in Canada? Is that a joint? Oh go around the corner with that eh?
Yeah we've been through quite the struggle here in the States... Its been a long, shitty ride since cannabis became criminalized...Now days though, we can confidently boast that we have some of the best breeders and finest genetics anywhere in the world... glad to see the medical community growing and thriving too.. Some of the western states have truly set the international standards for medicinal cannabis in my opinion also.. But yeah.. just think how many people are sitting in jail, how many lives & families destroyed because of this prohibition... its truly sickening and appalling
So true! I wish to see a full reform of marijuana and hemp laws. We can't even grow hemp. It's ridiculous really. Marijuana should not be a schedule 1 drug. I don't care what any right wing nut jobs say about it. It is an herb, a beautiful substance that makes you feel calm. I rely on it every day. I don't however think of it as a medication. In some circumstances I can understand, but I intend to use it for recreation. To relax, not to heal. If a cancer patient can get it from their doctor, to sooth their nausea, then that's great. But it shouldn't have to come from the doctor. We should be able to buy marijuana cigarettes (etc) the same was we buy normal cigarettes or liquor or any other over the counter "medication". Blah- I hate medication and the greed of the pharmaceutic companies!
As long as the pharmaceutical companies have the money and power, weed is going to remain illegal. But at least some progress is being made. I am so fortunate to be in a medical state.
I think decriminalization of non-medicinal marijuana on the Federal level would benefit society in a number of ways. There is a lot of violence associated with the cultivation of marijuana, and areas of wilderness destroyed by growers polluting the soil. Makes me think, wouldn't the influence that these bloody drug-cartels have over the world of marijuana, be significantly diminished if we could all grow it ourselves?
