somewhere in the UK to live lol.
I live in London (south west) and really do not like the 'city life', it is too crowded and noisy for me. The majority of the people in my area are unfriendly and rude, I get the piss taken out of me when I walk down the street just because I look/dress differently and like to bare foot quite a bit. It doesn't bother me as such but now I have a child, I don't want her to pick up on that, I'd rather be in a more alternative accepting area :)
I want to find a place that has lots of nice scenery, streams, good places for hiking/long walks, forest areas etc, but also somewhere not too secluded, maybe a short drive away from a town centre with shops, nightlife, places to work and things like that. I like the idea of a little village somewhere. I'm not fussed as to where in the UK it is, preferably not too far from London though, so that visiting family isn't too much of a journey!

I know this is a long shot but does anyone know of a place like this that exists?
    thanks :2thumbsup:

a place where the scenery is nicer, the people friendlier and more accepting of unusual behavior/attitudes/styles of dress, close to somewhere with a good nightlife, with good scenery to walk through, where London is easily accessible- sounds like Brighton to me, or nearabouts. :D

for somewhere more rural (coastal walks are nice, but forests are somewhere else again) i don't really know of anywhere which combines all of these things. personally, i reckon the forst of Dean's the most beautiful place I've been in England, but I've been there a lot and never found much in the way of nightlife....

Thing with Brighton is its always so busy, thats what I kind of want to avoid. But somewhere near brighton within driving or even walking distance could work :D

What about somewhere in Devon or Dorset? I'm moving down to Bournemouth soon, and i know there're some beautiful spots near there. I've heard good things about Totnes too...supposed to be very 'alternative' (I kinda hate that word, i must admit)

I love the jurassic coast, around Lyme Regis too. The beaches are so beautiful! Also, maybe somewhere in Cornwall? I dont know it well, but have heard good things about it :) ...good luck!

I was born in Loughton at the top right-hand corner of the underground map.

Grew up going for long walks in Epping Forest ... but with easy Central Line access to London.

Not as rural now as it was 40 years ago ... but the forest is still there. No idea how accepting of "different" people it is ... but if you can put up with teh "Essex girl" jibes, it might be worth a peep?

    Thanks for the suggestions :sunny:

I don't like the words 'different' or 'alternative' either but its definitely how I feel round here.

I'm likely going to stay here until April time next year because that is when my lease on my flat is up, so gives me time to find the perfect place, and hopefully a job and house to go with it over there :D

Unfortunately Britain is full of snotty people, i cant even mention i am a naturist at work for fear of getting the sack. I think the best place for free thinking people like us is Spain, its warm and its beautiful and there are a lot of places where you can dress or undress how you like, i fully intend moving out there one day.
