As all the candidates disappoint me, it becomes a matter of degree. Its like being asked which mirage you want to drink from. You still get nothing. x
I do not expect a lot from Barack Obama because I know it will be difficult to recover from the last eight horrible years of George W. Bush, and twenty-eight years of a Republican ascendency that began with Ronald Reagan. I only hope that Obama gets a big majority in the Senate and a fillibuster proff majority in the House of Representatives. The first order of business should be to soak the rich with massive tax increases. They are the only people who benefitted form the Bush economy. What we need is a Second New Deal. :cheers2:
Unfortunatly that would cause a massive migration of businesses and jobs to go over seas. Then there would be no money for a second new deal.
So, our only options are either profit-dominated corporate lawlessness or a rapid descent into some kind of Third World decadence? A choice between abuse or poverty? Why should we accept these as the only options? This is the legacy of Reagan/Bush Republican Conservatism, a citizen's government too self-contemptuous, powerless, demoralised and misguided to create or enforce any rule of law for corporations. Thanks to Neo-conservatism's unconscious and unconscionable devotion to minimal government and the rule of the free market, Medicine is now available only to those who are deemed profitable, quality food, fuel, housing and education are almost luxury items, and many very serious problems continue to get worse because it is simply not profitable to respond. I can't imagine how Obama could disappoint me. He would have to do something worse than Bush, worse than degrading the human worth of his fellow citizens, worse than starting a war (or, to be charitable, escalating a situation into a war), worse than violating the Constitution, worse than desecrating the ideals of Judaism and Christianity in the service of his own political brand, worse than absolute irresponsibility to all who should expect a reasonable level of enlightened leadership. But hey, you KNOW you're right, what else is there to think about any of this? Anyone too fucking stupid to know any better will find some bullshit reason to vote for the other guy. Why listen to anyone who thinks differently than you? Peace and Love
over Tax the businesses and the cost is passed down to the consumer. over tax the oil companies and the costs are passed down to the consumer. This really is not complicated stuff to understand, people.
I have a feeling that he won't win....Since McCain pulled a fast one and elected a woman as his VP, Obama had a chance to pull in more voters and elect Hiliary Clinton as his VP, but instead he elected a McCain-like VP.
