pbjube a little correction on your terminology. what you did and posted earlier isn't hash, it's an extract or oil. Any method that uses some type of solvent, whether it's iso, butane, coconut oil, butter, gasoline, etc., it's an extract. There are 3 main ways of making hash. Most common is collecting and compressing trichomes. This is done with water, ie; BubbleBag, dry sieving ancient Morrocan style, CO2(dry ice) screening, or just tumbling. The trichs, or kief, is then pressed into slabs to make hashish. Next is another ancient method of rubbing the growing buds until resin builds up on the hands or leather gloves then rolled or pealed off. The modern day equivalent would be "scissor hash" from the resin that builds up while trimming fresh buds. Nepalese Temple Balls and hash fingers are this type, though rarely seen in the states. Last we have the poor man's "oil based" hash. To make that you start with an iso or other solvent extract, reduce it down to a consistency of motor oil. Then you take a quantity of weed, leaf or bud, your choice, and grind it to powder. Mix that up with the oil until you have a thick brownie batter type consistency. Then spread it out in a pan or something, pop it in the oven at 150 degrees with the door open to allow venting and let it dry out. You can also allow it too air dry, but that will take days. The end product will be like a gooey brownie, or you can adjust the mix to get the final consistency you want. This type of hash was fairly common in the 70's, but I haven't seen any around for ages. It was often made as a way to make use of leaf and crap. Sometimes it was bunk other times stellar.
I always assumed that hash was just any kind of refined/more pure smokeable. Whether by physically removing trichomes or by extracting substances with a gas or alcohol, I've always heard the end product referred to as hash. I don't see any reason to exclude iso hash from that group. I can't even think of anything else to call it. This is just wikipedia, but it seems to indicate that the term covers all kinds of purified and compressed thc. I'd consider iso hash to be precisely that, and some of the best to boot.
My phone camera sucks This is what I have currently; top bud is Silver Jack (sativa) and the bottom is Crunchy Chunk (indica) and the "wax" is this; And I just picked up a gram each of GDP and Train-Jack kief but don't have pics.
There is your answer right there in bold. you can call it whatever you want, but technically one is an extract, I.E. oil, and the other is a concentrate as in collected and concentrated trichomes, I.E., hash.
When I smoked it with Matt he packed a bowl of pineapple express and put some hash on top of it. And that’s how I smoked it when I got home. Wasn’t oil looking kind of brown, I can't really remember exactly what it looked like. Since I’m not too familiar with that stuff.
funny, considering it was fine for you and others to spend two+ pages discussing the merits and reasons for scraping a brand name label off a bong. don't be such a dick.
