Finding a genuine medicine man?

I'm reading a book on Shamanism, and in it, the author said that, while doing anthropological studies in Peru, was given a concoction on a full moon that made his body rubbery. After seeing some visions in the night sky and feeling cold for a couple days. After awaking on the third night, his back pain, which he had from age 17 from playing tennis too hard, went away and never returned.

The medicine of shamanism worked more effectively in his case than with modern medicine. I'd just like to know where to actually meet with a genuine, spiritual healer.
