I love Tony Bennett. Natasha Bedingfield was on the TV when I wrote this ... Joss Stone is another singer around at the moment who kills songs by excessive tonal inflection. Sometimes simplicity is far more beautiful...
It's not exactly jazz, but that JoJo lass on her song "Get Out" does some vocal acrobatics which sound like a seal crying in pain. There is one 'Uhh Uhhh Uhhh' bit which makes my skin crawl everytime I hear it (it's airplay must be up soon!). It's mainly the pop rnb genre I come across it, but there it's very much welcomed, everyone's impressed by the dozen notes warbled into each line. But it's not like I have to hear this shit at home, so it's alright. Although saying that, I've got my 13 year old cousin staying over Christmas, she's already downloaded the Jojo song :O - We'll have a talk...
I've started getting into jazz. Man, it seemed to suddenly creep up on me out of no where! But I'm lovin it...At the same time, not really sure where to begin! Who's really worth a listen? etc. Marie-Clare xx
