This is based off own experiences.

I have Bipolar and Schizophrenia, I also smoke weed and some of you probably wouldn't recommend mixing it up. Schizophrenia is as unique as the person who has it, it's a very complex illness and most people underestimate those who have, but also don't understand it completely, which in turn bases their opinions and views in a negative manner for them to continue in society 'normally'. Marijuana helps me in many ways with my Bipolar. I used to smoke just to get high until I started to realize a positive change, but only if I was smart with it, like smoking responsibly. If you are Bipolar and reading this, you may know what I mean. Just packing a little bowl to take the edge and relax, like if you were to drink a beer or two to take the edge off. With Schizophrenia though, it's a lot more different, Im aware and observant of my surroundings 100% of the time. I know what I have on, off, in motion, where I keep, leave things, etc... Weed does make me hallucinate some times and I know it isnt real when they occur, because I know my surroundings. I know something around me at that time couldn't have generated such a bizarre noise. Some of you may not understand this, but its all natural instincts, just with some self training. It may not work for all people, but really know what's around you and understand every situation and language and you may decipher the difference between reality and the chemicals cycling within your brain.

I know what you mean. I had a friend with schizophrenia, and weed seemed to help her. But she had allot of doctors telling her not to take it, and to stick with the meds they gave her only. You know yourself best, if it helps you go for it.

I have psychosis and I can totally agree. It seem like the hallucinations go away, and everything seems clear and I can make out actual rational sentences that can make sense to me and people.

I can relate to what you guys are saying. I have a host of chemical imbalances and I've been using weed instead of medication to help alleviate them. It seems to be working. Marijuana brings clarity to my mind whereas I usually have problems turning the words in my head into sentences that others can understand..I'm able to communicate better.
