This is only a theory. This is about how synthetic LSD has made people sick. It started with my friend. My friend had developed psychosis in graduate school. He was studying schizophrenia in psychology or neuroscience prior to developing what later became diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenia. He took Er go loid Mesylates. It was used as a Nootropic for his studies. I am not sure if he took it OTC of it was prescribed, but he mentioned that it felt like Ads or "everyone" had recommended it to him. Instead of him actively seeking the Nootropic out, and he ended up taking it for a period of time before his psychotic episode. He came to me and others with a wild theory of his recently. He said, that he thought it was the Nootropic that caused his schizophrenia. This is because that was when it all began to manifest. Here is one of his public forum comments where he began to wonder how ergot poisoning might have contributed to MASS hysteria in the dark ages: "Are spells the objects of an overactive imagination? do they really exist in more than just an abstract sense? What really happened all those years ago in the Salem witch trials? What was St. Anthony's fire all about in the Dark ages? Does Ergot poisoning cause people to exhibit symptoms of Schizophrenia? They put a spell on me and it was strong." Anonymous* This is not as accurate as our phone conversations, but you can get the gist. So what does graduate school, neuroscience, and psychology all have in common? Graduate school is highly competitive, neuroscience is all about brain science, and psychology is all about being ahead of the curve.* What I'm saying here is, my crazy theory may be possible or plausibly linked to the shootings or massacres with this similarity. Whether these drugs were designed on purpose, with these known effects on normal people or highly intelligent people...is yet to be known. Whether this was a fluke of science is a mystery. But it's already apparent that my friend and a few others have been triggered by this synthetic LSD nootropic, that has been approved by the FDA more so for Alzheimer's, but could be prescribed off label. Was James Holmes seeing a psychiatrist for Nootropics? We will never know until the files are unsealed and the public is made aware of just what and how the doctor treated him for his "problems" or...maybe it wasn't a problem at first? Maybe he just wanted to become more intelligent, so he could be a top neuroscientist. Seems possible? Seems plausible? Here is some more info on this Nootropic from wikipedia: Ergoloid mesylates (USAN), co-dergocrine mesilate (BAN) or dihydroergotoxine mesylate, trade name Hydergine, is a mixture of the methanesulfonate salts of three dihydrogenated ergot alkaloids (dihydroergocristine, dihydroergocornine, and alpha- and beta-dihydroergocryptine). It was developed by Albert Hofmann (the discoverer of LSD) for Sandoz (now part of Novartis). Despite the fact that hydergine has been used in the treatment of dementia for many years, its mechanism of action is still not clear. It stimulates dopaminergic and serotonergic receptors and blocks alpha-adrenoreceptors. Current studies imply that the major effect of hydergine may be the modulation of synaptic neurotransmission rather than solely increasing blood flow as was once thought.* A prominent feature that accompanies aging is an increase in monoamine oxidase (MAO) levels which results in decreased availability of catecholamines in the synaptic cleft. In one study, an interaction between age and hydergine treatment was observed in the hypothalamus, hippocampus and cerebellum. The hydergine effect was more pronounced in the aged group in the hypothalamus and cerebellum, and more pronounced in the adult in the hippocampus. These findings imply that increased brain MAO activity in aging can be modified by hydergine treatment in some brain regions. Ergoloid is contraindicated in individuals who have previously shown hypersensitivity to the drug. They are also contraindicated in patients who have psychosis, acute or chronic, regardless of etiology. Specific drug interactions are unknown. Precautions Pleural and peritoneal fibrosis have been reported with prolonged daily use. Cardiac valvular fibrosis has also been associated with ergot alkaloids. There you go! Mystery solved.
Um... is there non synthetic LSD? Did he took LSD or some other medications? You should probably stop taking those nootropics...
I didn't take them, dumbass. It was a friend who thought that the Nootropic caused his schizophrenia. I don't have schizophrenia, and I thought it made sense and was a legit speculation. Go ahead and be narrow minded.
really? because it's not like that is an accepted fact already. so, your friend takes ergoloid and then blames LSD. fail at basic chemistry. also, you sound like a troll going on about nootropics. are you even aware of the meaning of the word? maybe it was in the food. did your friend eat anything prior to developing schizophrenia? maybe it was the ice cream or peanut butter. i'm sure something like that was involved shortly before the manifestation of his illness as well.
People with conditions that cause paranoia and delusions are totally not likely to come up with a paranoid delusional reason for that conditon.... or have paranoid delusional friends who make paranoid delusional forum posts. Oh wait....
You people effing suck. What the hell? What happened to being open minded and considering a theory that may be off the wall, you brainwashed fucking sheep. Great example of a "hip forum", and I'm the one being booed here when all you are doing is taunting me and trying to make it seem like having a thought, a theory, a fucking theory is a big fucking deal. It was only a theory, fuck off. Next time you concoct a dumbass theory about why your mother still brings groceries to you, don't tell me because I Have a life and I don't need to people to thumb their noses at me for a fucking conjecture. Done!
ooooh I was mean first...booooo go suck your thumb. If you really want to be a dick, why don't you actually consider that I might have had a valid argument and that pretentiously acting as if I'm a lunatic for thinking outside the box is the most cunty way you can be. So go ahead, be practical and shove it...you don't know me, and I'm not the one being the troll. I had a theory that I wanted to get valid input on, and you fucked up my thread.
why would i bother responding to you when you're just going to be insulting when i tell you i think your theory is wrong?
BTW I recently found out my friend was also taking steroids and abusing pain killers, so I'm sure it was a combination of a lot of things. He was taking this medication with Ergot in it without a prescription from a company in China; that WAS when his symptoms started.
its also around the age where the majority of people with schizophrenia start developing/showing symptoms. if he was taking a drug from a sketchy Chinese pharmacy, who the fuck even knows what it was?
Why are you responding to that with this asinine comment. I already explained below the conclusion of this. I just hate pretentious pricks who enjoy poking fun at people with schizophrenia. It's a really fucked up thing and it pisses me off to no end that a person who never could step foot inside the shoes of someone with it, would have the nerve to call someone crazy and joke about this stuff. People throw around crazy all the time because it's convenient for them when they don't understand or think they're superior to someone. I hate that culture tends to alleviate their suffering by lashing out at those crazies. When, not everything is a biology text book. I also hate people who try to act smart by repeating NAMI symptoms verbatim as if that's what it's really like. My apologies, you're obviously on a different level than me.
where the fuck did you see me poking fun at someone with a mental illness? you're clearly here looking for a fight, not a discussion.
