Part of the problem as I see it is that feminist rhetoric about sex and pornography is full of shit. Andrea Dworkin stating that even consensual heterosexual sex is rape and claiming that her raspy voice was the result of being orally raped. Sorry if you know even basic anatamy you'll know the average penis is 6 inches long and the vocal chords are at least 12 inches down the throat. In order for that to cause damage you would have to be orally raped by John Holmes.

I read an interview with Linda Lovelace where she said that she felt more exploited by Gloria Steinham and the feminist movement than by the porn industry. To paraphrase "They (The feminist movement) got paid hundreds of times to tell my story and I didn't get one cent. At least I $250 for the Blowjob in Deep Throat."

I think the constant exposure to advertising with the message that you don't feel good and/or aren't good enough and buy this to feel good and be good enough, and the constant violence from tv shows, to the news, to professional sports are far more detrimental to our society. With advertising it is especially insidious since we really have it forced upon us. If you live in an urban area you are exposed to one advertisement approximately every 30 seconds whether you want to be or not. That is being told that you aren't good enough every 30 seconds of the day.

Yet we are using pornography as a distraction from this and blaming it for the problems that are more prevalent.

To be fair, nobody here is saying porn should be blamed in place of the heavy violence in the media (movies, tv, games, and real life society footage like youtube).
