So I figured I may as well join you cool cats here in the Dreadlock Forum and make my own dreadlock journey journal thingymabob! Started my journey 3 months ago now so they're still babies and are all quite crazy at the moment, loose hairs everywhere, some flat, some round, some tight, some loopy. I did the ol' backcombing method, got my awesome sister to do them all ('cept two I did whilst bored one night), didn't really have any planned sectioning, she kinda just grabbed hair at the roots and backcombed, so they're all different sizes and such. Turned out to be 39 dreads I believe. Didn't have any rubber bands at the time, I said I'd get some, but I never did and left them alone besides palm rolling for a couple weeks at the beginning, which was just tiring.. so now there are quite a plenty of them joining up at the roots I'm still deciding whether to let them or not.. Some of them feel like they've completely undone themselves up from the tips so don't know whether to do something about that or not? Need to get my hands on some beads too.. Please do give some advice if you have any! Also, excuse my shitty laptop/phone quality photos, it is all I have! My hair pre-dreads My front two I decided to do myself one night - that one of the right is now incredibly loose! Half done, 'bout 20 or so here - tarantula! Final product - I was called Sideshow Bob for a few days.
Silly 4 photos per message.. most recent shot as of now, can kinda see the loose front dread of mine and some locking going on.. I shall update with some closer up shots when it's day time and my shitty laptop camera can pick up light! Peace, friends!
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu they look awesome the tips will come loose! its all part of the process. knots gatta get loose before they can tighten up again
Nice! Especially awesome for 3 months. Only advice I have is enjoy the shit outta watching them grow & change.
Thank you! All these silly people who don't have dreads telling me how I need to "fix" my hair have gotten to my head.. fools! They know nothing.
Marvellous I must say, young dreads do best with long hair, and I can safely say yours are doing very well
