"Art" is where you take nothing and make something out of it. Then you sell it. {Frank Zappa} get over it purp
Nobody is gonna buy a piece of shit. I think ol Frank would have agreed with me on that We aren't discussing what is/isn't art. But the rules of art, and how that creates a difference between good and bad art. Get over it.
there are no rules to art.. i could easily eat some chipotle and some Kaboom cereal and shart all over a canvas and call it art if i wanted to
And if you were one of those "up and coming new artists" that some rich asshole "found" then you might do well in the art circles. Otherwise you got shit on a canvas. It's always your right to call it art though.
But if you pay attention to the rules of composition, put the chipotle and kaboom cereal in the right places and balance it all with a well aimed shart.. you're a lot more likely to find that rich asshole.
Only if it's positioned correctly in the gallery... Proper lighting and all, and don't ever mount it to the wall upside down.
Scary thing is, it'll probably work.. I'd prefer to look at poo and chipotle on a canvas than someone's bed. You could also talk some shit about how it involves the sense of smell.. pushing "art" in a whoole new direction
I'm gonna shit on a canvas before any of you twats get to it first. sad thing is, someone has probably already done it
You need to know about composition, what is strong and what is weak. You need to understand about good design. Then there is light. You need to understand how it works and how objects and color are affected by it. Of course, color is another category all together. There is a lot to be learned there too. It is pnly when you understand these things (and more) that you can "break the rules" in search of new paths. Perhaps you can visit your local library and find books on drawing, composition, color, and 2d and 3d design. If you can't enroll in any kind of instruction, books like these can be helpful.
