Are there still any in existence, or have they gone extinct due to the indoor theaters? I remember my father bringing me to a drive-in, but I was too young to appreciate the experience. Now, I believe it a preferable experience to sitting in a theater.
There is one about an hour away from where I live. I haven't been yet but i definitely think it would be a cool experience.
We have one about a half hour away. I've seen Saw there and The Dark Knight. One other movie when I was younger too, but I don't recall that one.
none here anymore i remember seeing flash gordon...tootsie...and et. at the drive in when i was really small last time i went was with my sister and her boyfriend...the movie was robin hood..the one with bryan adams sings the theme song...I still know the guy..she ended up marrying him and giving me nieces
We still have one, but there used to be two. We saw Cowboys and Aliens last year. Didn't go this year.
One about 45 minutes away. Lost two about 15-20 years ago. Lost the last one in my home town area about a year ago. When I was growing up we had 5 within about 10 miles, one was a double screen. One was gone by about 1962, three by 72 or so, last one recently.
Still have one about 10 minutes from here. Usually go once a year, except this year. They've taken a real "family" approach to things and show lots of children's movies. Which kinda sucks. There were several within a 30 minute drive until the mid-90's. Some closed due to lack of patronage, a couple blew away in storms and some just closed when the owners croaked.
that would be good, although i think by this time of year i would be more comfortable with an i'minmysleepingbag.
One a bit North of here in Muskegon I think. Haven't been to a drive in since 1973. Although I don't recall ever seeing the whole movie when I went.
well in a functional sense, "drive in, the next generation", they've been replaced by the drive up windows, at the overwhelming majority of "fast food" franchises.
We had one here when I moved here 22 years ago but it closed a couple years later, We went to them a lot when I was a kid. We usually went in our pajamas so if we fell to sleep it was easier to get us into bed when we got home.
Okay guys...look what I found! Driveinmovie. Drive in movies in the U.S. by state! It appears that PA had the second drive in ever, and it is now the oldest continually operating one in the nation. Enjoy.
