Hi everyone. We have all experienced events in our lives in which something bad happens to us and we spend time afterward running through our heads our actions prior to that event, saying over and over, "If I had only done this instead, it wouldn't have happened." Well yesterday I experienced the same sort of thing, but in reverse. I was at a citywide art event yesterday, looking at some great work and some not so great work, but enjoying my time there nonetheless. I decided to leave for home, and as I began walking to my car I encountered an artist at a busy intersection who was handing out cards to promote his work. I took one and saw that the painting he entered was of a lesser quality that much of the work I had already seen. His skill level was not as high as that of others. Well I took the card and told him that I was on my way out but would take the time to look at his work. So I spun myself around 180 degrees and began walking away from home instead of toward it. That proved to be my good fortune. On my way up the street to the venue this artist was showing at, I happened upon this image, which I found in an alley way between buildings. I stopped, shot this and went on to see his paintings. Then I realized later that if I had simply given this guy the brush off, I would have gone home and completely missed this. It works both ways.
