He just wanted to get out and explore the world. He really doesn't want to be in any active conflict, (Considering that medics are unarmed.)

He is probably less likely to be engaged in frontline conflict - but should be aware of what he sighned up for - including the politics.

I disagree. The military lies to get people to enroll. The promised him housing, college and, all these other promises that the military is known for lying about.

    What does he have?
I have heard the arguments about what the government supposedly promised.
    I feel this isn't 100% true.
I think a lot of it is expectation and entitlement.

He has a room in TX without air conditioning on base, and that's it. I know what the Navy promised him cause I was there. Btw for someone who just asked "What's so bad about socialism?" it's quite ironic to hear you use the word "entitlement." Esp when you're talking about someone who's actually doing something to earn said entitlement...

Maybe he should have read the contract before signing up

There is a difference between need and entitlement, imho.
Joining the Navy, etc, and assuming you are entitled to x, y and z - isn't the same as a need for x, y and z outside what you can provide for yourself.
To me - some people assume 'socialism' covers anything a person needs, regardless.
I do not think that is true.

If the Navy promised him something and did not fulfill that promise, fair enough.
I have heard the argument about x, y or z promising people something, and it turns out to be a political point scoring exersice - that's all.
'I went to college because I was promised a well payed job and a good future' etc.
I'm sure you have heard that old chestnut before.

Believe it Oden, recruiters here are notorious scum-bags, they will say anything to get their quota, it means another rung up the ladder for them. They play heavily on the blood-feud thing whipped up from 911, plus they have the down economy on their side. It shouldn't be a mystery why recruits overwhelmingly come from the poorest states. Even the National guard, once you sign the contract, you are treated like gun meat. (cannon fodder)
Also, a little research on how American vets are treated should make your blood boil.
