When it works, more power to you, but when you fail (i.e., she refuses to proceed with you), you can't help feeling foolish for coming to her rescue in the first place.

It's one of the oldest tactics in the book. I see it all the time.

When did I ever say that I was the first man to approach the girl? In the last incident I was just hanging out with my buddies and just watching the spectacle unfold. Fucking just happened again tonight. The stupid white knight came to the rescue to the bitch, who later jilted the dumb ass. I just took him aside and asked him if he did the right thing by coming to her rescue.

"Dude," he told me. "had I known she was a bitch I would have never stood up for her."

Yep. I remember once waiting in line for a unisex restroom at a nightclub. This bitch showed up with all kinds of princess attitude, and the guy in front of me let her go ahead of everyone else!
