Not too impressed with either. Judging the rhetoric in a neo-Aristotelian manner, Obama is more effective. But he has poor rebuttals for most of Romney's attacks. Romney hates giving specifics, I appreciate how Obama at least knows his own plans.
Tonight was lack, luster to say the least. Both are on a power trip, with one goal, Themselves. There was a day, a longtime ago, when the Presidency meant someting. Today, it's a business Alas, we may be witness to our own demise
Obama was off his game and Mittens (somewhat) capitalized. He appealed to conservatives tonight like he never before has. He looked a lot better than I had pictured it
I don't have tv so wasn't able to watch the debate. I'm curious if they really make a difference this late in the game. You always hear about swing voters but most people either seem so polarized or apathetic that it doesn't seem like a debate one month before elections could really change any minds
You may be right, but I think in this case the debates may have a bigger impact on Mittens chances. It's his only chance to exploit Obamas weakness of not having a TelePrompTer. He's so unliked even within his own party that a huge portion of the conservative vote is floating in limbo. But when put head to head against Obama without distractions all of a sudden it doesn't seem as bad. I still don't think Mittens will win, but predict that the debates have the possibility of changing a landslide to a "respectable" loss. I just wish the campaign trail consisted of only debates, and that they were open to all legitimate parties and candadates. Gary Johnson is the only '3rd party' on all 50 ballots.....he has a right to that stage if anyone does.
Anyone catch The Gary Johnson ad after the debate? It was a play on Frankenstien where the two parties created a donkey\elephant monster known as the republicrat. I haven't been able to find it on YouTube yet.....but I thought it was the best campaign ad I'd ever seen
I gotta check that Gary Johnson vid, I bet it's really f** good from what you described. I came across this in the 'mainstream'.. a little commentary on yahoo. This guy put it out there pretty good. Over all it's a pretty damning critique on the spectacle. It plays well to the 'two party system' idea but sort of glosses over other options. It was a show though, even if it's too sad to be entertaining. Oh, forgot to add the link. http://news.yahoo.com/mitt-romney-won-the-debate--why-does-that-matter-.html
You'll get alcohol poisoning doing that. Cons are the Major Frank Burns on the issues. But Obama's inability to capitalize on that, really shows how bad the next four years are going to be, no matter who wins.
Woohoo the most partisan of people are finally catching on that we're screwed either way. This gives me more hope than empty campaign slogans ever did.
You must have missed the other dozen times that I stated that I've been a registered INDEPENDENT for the last 20 years. Have you figured out that the cons are the fascists, and the dems are the wimps yet? I'll still take the compassionate over the FOURTH REICH. The con plan is to destroy Social Security and Medicare, and throw grandma out in the street. They will also destroy women's rights and bring back the inquisition. They will ban all religion that isn't christian. Healthcare will be for the rich only. Redistribution of wealth will all go to the rich, making America a banana republic. No more middle class. Those on welfare will all be thrown in prison. If they think they can get away with it, they'll fire up the nazi ovens for another "final solution" to welfare. And global domination will be the mandate, again. WWIII, oh goody. Then nobody will care how much the cons add to the national debt. One of those two WILL be the next POTUS, I'll stick with the wimp.
