I tend to talk more in an actual conversation than a virtual one, and the more I talk, the more big words I use. I'm not trying to impress anyone or put anyone down. It just happens with people in general... But I'm just gonna keep on truckin and be myself. Also, the last time I said "keep on truckin" someone had no idea what I meant. It's mostly things like that. And for the record, there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a cat lady.
And there's nothing wrong with having a better than average vocabulary. That never put me off from anybody. Maybe you're just a little too self-analyzing and it makes you self-conscious.
If you really want to 'fit in' better you will have to use your 'smarts'. EG : "Participating in pedestrian perambulation" = "Walking".
You must be living in a very dumb area. Check out this map: It is not stereotypical at all. --- With futher analysis of this map I came to conclusion that the situation on Earth isn't so bad after all. It seems that territorially normal people lead along with russians. Numerically, however, there are most extremely smart people in the world!
Wow, I live in normal people area. I knew that my mother was wrong when she called me stupid.
I've been working on not using so many big words so that people can better understand what I'm saying. You know, use the internet as a starting point- not that i believe anyone here needs me to. Besides that, if I were going to troll, it definitely wouldn't be about vocabulary. And I did mention that it was also many of the phrases I use. One person didn't know what "taken aback" meant -_- According to the map, I live in an extremely dumb area... That would explain a few things...
Maybe you do, but remember I lot of it's prob due to the schooling people had. Seems to me the US education system is very much like the health care which is very patchy. Can you move to a more highly educated area ? like one of those 'College town/city' I hear of . I moved from a city with good schools to the country and there's def a difference between people who grew up here and the imports like me.
i don't know that college towns are any more educated than elsewhere. most people get their education and immediately move back home anyway. the main differences in a college town are: more headshops, and the block parties get broken up by the police at dusk.
You know my advice would be to never change yourself to fit the mold of everyone else. If people don't understand you then it's their loss. You will most definitely find people who are much more like yourself and then everything will be ok.
I absolutely agree that the education system is a tad mediocre. Even if I was able to move, I don't know that I would actually want to. All my friends and family are here. So I have to endure a few weirdos... Who doesn't I think I ought to just look harder for people who can relate to me.
