Best place for this Oregon? Looking for an easy going mentality, people into gardening, growing herbs (legal) not interested in the party,drug or drinking scene since I do neither of these. Just looking for quiet, humble people into nature, metaphyscial hobbies with a live and let live mentality. Can anyone suggest a place? ( or does one still exist?? ha!) Hi Patchoulicat You pretty much described everywhere in Oregon. If I was moving here from out of state I would say Try Portland or the Portland Suburbs first. People think Oregon is full of Progressives and Hippies and it is, but it's also full of Loggers and their offspring. Over the years I have found most the latter to be heavy drinkers to the point many die young and or get themselves in some kind of alcohol related trouble with the Law or the locals. You wont find nearly as much of this in Portland as you would lets say Eugene or Salem. I couldn't fathom living anywhere else except maybe Washington. It's beautiful here and as long as you're not from Southern California you will be welcomed with open arms. Check out Voodoo Donuts website (voodoodoughnut.com) the state is full of amazing off beat companies and people such as the previously mentioned. Best of luck to you in your move! Peace out
I concur with Zombie Minstrel. That is, anywhere in Oregon that is not Eastern OR or many spots on the coast. Anywhere up and down the I-5 corridor this would apply though Many locals here don't like Californians either, but people are usually very open and progressively-minded individuals that do live by the "live and let live" theory. I moved to oregon a few months ago and its the best move i have ever made in my life. You should check out Bend, Oregon. Pretty much what you described. Enjoy.
