In fact, I would find it a challenge to say just what a hipster is. Why, then, am I here? I found this site through a google search for existentialist forums, and this site appears to be the only site on the entire internet where people discuss this topic intelligently. So, I decided to join despite that I do not do drugs, don't drink (anymore), dress conservatively, have conservative as well as (some) liberal political views, and am old enough to be a grandfather to what I suspect would be most of the members of this site. On the positive side: I enjoy talking to young people, especially about serious issues, and, unlike a lot of people my age, I at least make the attempt to take young people seriously. Also, I won't be bothering people in most of the other forums and intend to stick mostly to the philosophy forums, where I'm hoping some good conversations and/or debates can be had. I admit I'm a bit nervous being the new guy and an old man, but at the same time I am happy to be here, as this smiley shows:
Welcome ...You'd be surprised at the number of 'older' members there are on this site. No need to be nervous about anything ... just be yourself!
Welcome.Although I'm relatively young at 41 I'm also a bit of an "old fogey" as we say In England...Bring out the pipe and slippers and I'll see you around.
