I've always loved sculpting things, and I also love video games. I was brainstorming with my boyfriend about things I could do to make a little money on the side and I thought I could make video game merchandise like keychains and jewelry which I already have experience making; just never done it for money before. If anyone's familiar with Left 4 Dead, I made the little medpack as a keychain for myself and when I looked on Etsy, I couldn't find one that looked better than mine. So I'm wondering, does anyone make decent money selling on etsy?
I love etsy. I have sold on etsy and got good money for my creations. The trick to making money on etsy is to have a very unique item. As you know, etsy.com is saturated with items like jewelry for instance. Good luck and let us know your id there when you get your page up.
I'll have to keep that in mind, thanks! And as soon as I do that, I'll put the URL here too :2thumbsup:
I've bought a ton of unique gifts from etsy and I've sold plenty of coaster sets and lightswitch covers...its a great site if, like Aerianne said, you have REALLY unique and well crafted items. But little figurines and keychains like that are awesome...a friend of mine makes manga sort of figurines and sells them on there...she makes some pretty decent money doing it
That's good to know! Thanks :2thumbsup: I'm gonna go for it. Going shopping for supplies this weekend with my boyfriend. This whole thing was pretty much his idea, he knows how much I missed making things.
I went thru 469 items in the catagory in which I would put something up that I used to make and didn't see one that was like the ones I made. Roofing is just about out of the question for me --so may be a good way to wean myself off the hard labor. I'm glad you-all put this up and have given me something to think about. ----
I know. thanks. The only time I made them was 1974 at a craft fair in Hawaii because I had an operation and couldn't roof. I made 20 of them and sold them out in a couple of hours. I should have been making those babies all these years. Oh well-dead is too late,eh?
Hi, I've been selling on etsy for almost a year and I'm really enjoying the experience. A tip I'll pass on...you need at the very least 30 items in your shop to really get sales going. Best to you - Sister Rags
That's awesome! You could also start a Twitter and/or a Pinterest account exclusively tied to your Etsy shop and list your stuff that way, tweet to your followers when you list new stuff, etc. Pinterest is very popular with Etsy shoppers. Good Luck!
Hip Forums keyrings anyone? would that pass muster with skip or would you have to give him a percentage?
Good idea! I just have to find the time to work on my stuff. I would rather have a lot of ideas of what I want to make and make a whole afternoon of it, then get several pieces done in one sitting.
i would have more than one shop too. try other websites other than just etsy. you could even have an ebay shop
