Teenager has stomach removed after drinking liquid nitrogen cocktail

Would you drink this? Should it be sold?

I'm not sure who's fault this was - as I'm sure people have drunk this type of cocktail with no harm. But it does seem to be a tad risky - just for a bit of fun.

 

I used dry ice to cool beer one time , it made the beer quite bitter , and made me sick . desert rat

 

Yeah that was a fucked up story .The poor girls first drink being 18 and that shit happens.

 

I might dip a can of beer into some liquid nitrogen - but drink it?

 

She probably should have stuck to Bacardi Breezers : /

 

How has no one else had this happen? Or is it like blowfish and has to be prepared the right way to be safe?

It might if she mixed her own nitrogen cocktail at home, but most people can reasonably expect to go to a bar and not accidentally order something that lands them in the hospital with major surgery.

 

I have a feeling you are supposed to leave it to settle - or the bar staff are.
It might have made others extremely sick but just not had the same effect as this young girl. She seems to have been very unlucky.

I doubt she would have taken that drink if she had any clue of that danger. I think the award should go to whoever decided to put liquid nitrogen in a drink.

 

The cockroach eating thing is ancient and primal so at least he has something to fall back on - the girl has nothing, she has to rely on her own stupidity

It is OK to put Dry Ice into beverages for drinking as long as the dry ice is food grade. Use 2 to 4 pounds of Dry Ice for each gallon of room temperature punch. Use large pieces of Dry Ice not small pieces. The Dry Ice is heavier than ice and will sink to the bottom. Do not use any regular ice! The Dry Ice will do the cooling and must not be eaten or swallowed. Too much Dry Ice will freeze the beverage so have extra standing by. It will bubble and give off the most fog when the beverage is room temperature. When most of the Dry Ice has sublimated, it will surround itself with ice and float to the top. There is still a small piece of Dry Ice in the center of these ice pieces so do not serve or eat them. Carefully ladle the beverage into drinking glasses without any Dry Ice. Add regular ice to glasses for cooler drinks.

**(Food grade means the CO2 used to make the dry ice is the same quality CO2 as used for soda fountains and also the dry ice can be used to transport food and produce.)

liquid nitrogen freezes stuff INSTANTLY, it probly turned most of her stomach to ice almost instantly. we've all seen terminator 2, and remember the part w/ arnold dumps a truck of liquid nitrogen on the t2 and it instantly freezes.

i couldnt imagine the pain, wow.

 

it should be outlawed
