In the true sense of the word , how many dole bludgers can you personally think of? I can think of one possibly two people who I would call dole bludgers. Everyone else I can think of who is on social security would like to get more work or they are caught up in other circumstances of having dependants.

Actually, I can think of relatively few lazy people in my life.I could count them on two hands. My ex-communist parents thought that laziness was a virtue.

I was a dole bludger for at least ten years. a dinky di rip off the gov as much as I could DOLE BLUDGER. I knew many others too ... still do ... altho I don't like them much.

nowadays I don't like dole bludging much because as a bludger you're digging yourself a hole that's hard to get out of. there's a tendency to meet only other dole bludgers and usually they're not motivated people ... which in other words becomes a downer ...

and Life for me is not about being down.

    cheers!

Almost 70% of Dole recipients are employed in casual employment. This is where the majority of employment growth has been in Australia hence the term, Underclass. They are working but are paid so little and given so little hours to work that they need welfare and charity to prop them. They are powerless of their situation yet they are being demonised instead of punishing the mugs in power for telling employers to screw us like whores.

Damn, did I misinterpretate the topic of this thread :D I guessed it was about the fruit company. I googled dole bludger though! I take it this is a typical aussie term?

Yeah you are right it is an Aussie term, here in Oz you can be a dole bludger for life, live off taxpayers, I think though I don't know there may be restrictions on time you can receive unemployment benefits in the US for instance, maybe one of our Yankee friends could tell us.

I have been both sides of the fence. One year my tax would have supported a single person on the dole. and In did not have a problem with that. These days it is not as easy being on the dole , they get a bit nasty after six months and you can be put on work for the dole that is essentially community service with a different label.

I don't know of any actual dole bludgers but know plenty of people reaping the benefits from children they didn't want to conceive. So far as to have 3-4 children just for the coin.
