I can't believe nobody here has picked up on this yet. Chris Rock (for those of you living under a ROCK) is a very famous comedian, who has always pushed the boundaries just a tad too close to the edge sometimes.. Well his latest comment might just set off a few undesired reactions.. Let me set the stage: So, we have all this "huffaraw" over that movie (which is really crappy and I cannot believe it cost $5 Million by the way), protests everywhere, people rioting and fighting and what is Chris Rock's response? (On Twitter mind you) "Muslims vow to make USA pay for 1 crazy man.. Can you imagine us doing that? Oh yeah. We did. Bin Laden. We made Afghanistan pay for it." I see the point he is trying to make.. But I'm not sure it's going to help anything...
I'm not saying I have a problem with it.. Just saying that given current circumstances it was a little ballsy of him.
in fairness, Afghanistan had extensive Al Qaida bases, so it wasn't just about get-back for Bin Laden. Still, it wasn't necessary to invade in order to suppress those bases. while not quite on the mark, his comments are more or less legit. Bill Maher really got screwed after his 9-11 comments. Those were even more on the mark, but people really weren't in the mood to hear anything that did not play to their emotional needs.
I find people tend to get bitten in the ass by telling the truth, more or less anyway. I seem to remember a lot of flak over Michael Moore's Movies. The phrase "live and let live" should be adopted by all. I mean really, when did we degrade as a society to the level of kindergarden children? "He called me a name" - let's throw a rock "He insulted me" - let's launch a nuke.... I think as a race, humanity is pretty screwed at the moment....
One name for you... "Carlos Mencia" the equal opportunity jokester... Where has he gone hmmmm? It just goes to show that political correctness is going to smush our individuality into the ground. Sure, we are all unique, and allowed to have opinions, but only the opinions I tell you to have. sheesh....
What's wrong with him saying a few things that are close to the bone? It's about time the world starteds laughing at each other instead of getting pissed off at every little comment.
1. Chris Rock is the shit, and totally right 2. Truth and Michael Moore have never been anywhere near each other.
LOL.. True enough I guess... All depends on what you consider truth, and what you consider entertainment. I find that movies and television shows often contain a hint of truth here and there, sometimes it's eery. You can find lots of things like.. Demolition Man... Schwarzenagger became president.. and guess what? In real life he wanted to be, and he DID get to be governor! Scary....
I never liked Chris Rock, but I have a big problem with him over what he said about someone I cannot name: a football player who fought dogs. He made the comment about Jay Leno, who sided with Chris....I boycotted Leno for a few months until I forgot about it Anyway, Chris said this: "What the hell did Michael Vick do? Pitbulls ain't (sic) even real dogs! Dogs have never been good to black people!" And supposedly he lost a movie role due to that comment. I hope it's true.
How can someone think that when you kill Bin Laden that means you have done a lot!! those are things for politicians, Its like killing removing a white ant queen but live the ant hill which can still get another queen, well you can cerebrate but for long. I think the world will never be at peace if the politicians learns how to listen to others people if the chance is there to use it than killing each other. A dead man does not pay for his sins because he is not afraid of dying most especially when he knows that what he did was the right thing and worthy dying for, am sure that was his "Bin Laden" thinking.
The sad truth is that politicians ARE our VOICES throughout the world... WHEN we start to actually elect, or appoint, people who really do give a rat's behind, instead of following the money, they we may actually start getting ahead in this world.. Before then... We won't... I may not agree with the way Chris Rock said it... But he has a very big point. :afro:
Clare to elaborate PlacidDingo? Wouldn't mind seeing you complete the thought process on that one. Speak up, we're all friends here :afro:
